胡文英与《屈骚指掌》研究

【摘要】：乾嘉时期朴学盛行,此时也是楚辞学研究极为繁盛的时期。朴学家们研究《楚辞》以广征博引、实事求是见长,尤为注重对《楚辞》名物、地理的考据,代表作有蒋骥《山带阁注楚辞》、戴震《屈原赋注》、王念孙《毛诗群经楚辞韵谱》等。但也有不少学者不满考据者割裂《楚辞》文脉大义的弊病,专注于阐释《楚辞》的文意与文脉,章句类代表作有陈本礼《屈辞精义》、刘梦鹏《屈子章句》、胡文英《屈骚指掌》等。其中胡文英《屈骚指掌》作为乾嘉朴学重要的组成部分,其注释体例虽以章句为主,但由于深受乾嘉朴学的影响,亦注重考据名物、地理等,他曾五次涉楚实地考察,可见其用力之深。清代朴学大家王鸣盛曾赞扬《屈骚指掌》考索名物精细,胡文英不少独到的见解亦受到当代学者们的肯定,《屈骚指掌》是一部值得深入研究的楚辞注本。就目前学界对胡文英及《屈骚指掌》的研究现状看,取得了一些成果,对胡文英的生平事迹有一个大致的认识,对《屈骚指掌》的注释方法与体例研究得较多。但关于胡文英的生平事迹及注骚动机的研究仍不够明确与全面,并且存在错误与矛盾之处。此外,《屈骚指掌》的特色、不足及其对旧注(《楚辞章句》《楚辞补注》《楚辞集注》)的沿袭与创新之处尚未得到充分讨论,因此对胡文英及《屈骚指掌》的研究尚存在较大的空间。由于记载胡文英生平事迹的文献稀少且研究楚辞的著述、论文浩如烟海,有些问题仍存在争议,研究工作的开展确有一定的难度。为克服以上困难,采用文献分析法、纵向对比法、综合研究法、知人论事法对胡文英及《屈骚指掌》进行研究。首先,利用胡文英著作序跋及《武进阳湖县志》《武阳志余》《江苏省通志稿》《清代毗陵名人小传稿》《清代缙绅全书》等相关记载,对胡文英生平进行深入探讨,纠正前人混淆同名者、胡文英字号的错误,理清胡文英籍贯、家世、科举经历的基本情况。进而得出胡文英因仕途不顺、尤嗜屈骚、不满旧注之弊创作了《屈骚指掌》。其次,对于《屈骚指掌》一书,横向上将其置于乾嘉朴学这一大背景中研究。胡文英采用考据法对屈骚地理、名物、音韵、民俗进行考证,但在具体操作上,胡文英则是亲涉楚地、实地考察,这又有别于同时期治骚者的引经据典,经他实地考证后的成果具有浓郁的楚地特色,对于研究《楚辞》与楚地风物均有着重要的参考价值。另一方面,《屈骚指掌》是清代章句派注释《楚辞》的代表作,体现了楚辞研究由重考据向重文意阐释发展的趋势。纵向上将《屈骚指掌》置于楚辞接受史中,主要与《楚辞章句》《楚辞补注》《楚辞集注》进行对比,《屈骚指掌》在字词及文意解释方面均有沿袭旧说之处。考证名物与时谚、结合屈原处境与楚国国情阐释文意、解读“求女”情节是《屈骚指掌》补充前人注释、阐发新见的关键之处。胡文英治骚力求新变使《屈骚指掌》新解层出,但也暴露了该书在字词训诂、文意阐释、时地考证上存在牵强附会、主观臆断的弊病。
