[Abstract]:The Hmong "Hmoob" people in the United States still retain their own language. "Hmoob" people's language belongs to a sub-dialect of the Miao Western dialect. Some of these words may have originated from ancient Chinese. "Hmoob", "Mab" and "Suav" which are still used by "Hmoob" people can clearly reflect the historical process of self-identification and ethnic division construction of "Hmoob" people. In the process of constructing the system of self-identity and ethnic division, the concept of "Hmoob" people's inter-ethnic relationship is influenced by their historical migration process and the view of Chinese nationality. But the factor of cultural consciousness plays a major role in it. The word "Mab" and its derived words still exist in the contemporary self-identity and inter-ethnic division of the American "Hmoob" group, but have changed to a certain extent.
