[Abstract]:In the development of American history, the black problem existed for a long time. Slavery had been abolished after the Civil War, but racial discrimination and segregation against blacks persisted, and blacks had been treated unfairly by the federal government and white societies in economic, cultural and educational terms, resulting in their low social status. Black participation in politics is even more impossible. After World War II, the situation of blacks became worse, and finally triggered a world-shaking black civil rights movement in the 20 th century. The victory of the struggle gave blacks the right to vote and began to take part in politics. As the strength of the black middle class grew and the number of people participating in politics increased, black participation in politics gradually developed. This paper explores and analyzes the real situation of black people in the early postwar period, the process and mode of political development, the significance and problems of black participation in politics, and draws the positive aspects of black participation in politics after the war. However, the unequal treatment of racial discrimination and political rights in the United States still exists, and the political rights of black Americans in the United States have not really improved. It is a long and arduous road for black people to gain their due status and rights in political life.
