论爱默生的废奴政治

　　论文采用历史-生平研究法和文本细读法,通过探讨了拉尔夫·沃尔多·爱默生作为社会改革者,特别是作为一名坚定的废奴主义者所进行的政治实践。本文在前人史学研究和文学研究的基础上,分析了爱默生的废奴政治主张。论文指出爱默生的废奴政治主张随着美国社会和内战的发展而不断演变,因而需要进行重新分类整理。通过历史语境化和文学分析的手段,结合美国内战前后时期的历史语境,论文揭示了爱默生废奴政治的形成过程和主要内涵。论文第一章主要探讨了爱默生废奴政治产生的外部条件。第二章阐述了爱默生的崇高废奴政治的主要策略,即通过道德劝说和自我修养提升来改善内在自我,从而促进废奴运动的发展。第三章讨论了随着内战的临近,爱默生的废奴政治从崇高战略策略转向暴力抵抗废奴策略。爱默生意识到自我改善过程缓慢,迫切需要集体行动来对抗当时美国社会存在的蓄奴制现象。第四章分析了爱默生在后期关于黑人种族未来和美国社会种族和谐的思想。结论部分总结了爱默生作为积极的社会改革者和一个坚定的废奴主义者的主要废奴思想。
