(The Robert H. Smith International Center for Jefferson Studies at Monticello)共同发起召开了一次美国史研讨会,有三十余名中外学者出席。

The first session focused on "New Trends in early American History", chaired by Professor Jack Rakoff of Stanford University. The theme of the second dialogue, "American historiography on 21th century," was chaired by Professor Wang Lixin of Peking University. All participants spoke in English. The following words are arranged and translated according to live recordings, in order to keep the dialogue as original as possible. The arranger uses the original way of recording, and when the recording is not clear, it is marked with an ellipsis; the audience's response is also illustrated in an enclosed way. For reasons of length and effect of reading, Some repetition and disjunctions have been deleted in translation, where ellipses have been added accordingly. The bracketed text is added by the arranger as a supplement or explanation... due to time constraints, only where the individual is not clear or precise, Check with the specific spokesman, the entire speech has not been reviewed by me, the omission and misinterpretation is inevitable, I hope the reader can see.
