[Abstract]:The Harlem Renaissance is a major and complex literary and cultural movement in the history of black Americans, and a vivid reflection of the new black cultural and racial consciousness. At the same time, it is also an attempt by the American black intellectual elite to strive for the black people to integrate into the mainstream American society. It has played a certain role in establishing the black public image and deepening the black people's understanding of themselves. A watershed in the history of human culture, The Harlem Renaissance is of great significance in the history of American black culture. This thesis aims to explore the historical significance of the Harlem Renaissance on the basis of previous studies on the Harlem Renaissance. Firstly, the paper examines the background of the Harlem Renaissance in the 1920s in the United States. It mainly includes the black nationalist movement in the 1920s, the great migration of blacks and the birth of "New Black" and Black intellectuals. At the same time, the paper discusses the manifestations of the Harlem Renaissance, which is embodied in literature. Art and the study of black American history. The paper further discusses the efforts of black Americans to seek American identity, including protests against racism and their American cultural identity. This paper explores the significance of the Harlem Renaissance in the history of black Americans.
