[Abstract]:The implementation of the reform and opening policy in the 1980s led a new round of overseas Chinese upsurge in Qingtian, a famous overseas Chinese township in the mountainous area of southern Zhejiang. The past three decades have witnessed the history of countless Qingtian people and their descendants going abroad by various means. In recent years, with the rapid development of Chinese economy, more and more overseas Chinese of different ages choose to return home. For a period of time, the Qingtian people who had different experiences of foreign cultural conflict and adaptation came back to the familiar mother culture environment, but now they may not be familiar with the mother culture environment, their readaptation in various aspects has aroused the author's strong interest. Although Scheuts, an American scholar, studied the problem of readjustment after the return of overseas servicemen in 1944, it was compared with cross-cultural adaptation in the traditional sense (from a familiar cultural environment to another unfamiliar cultural environment). However, there are few studies on cross-cultural readjustment of returnees. In addition, most scholars generally focus on returned overseas students and expatriates, and rarely on groups with their own characteristics such as Qingtian overseas Chinese. It is from this consideration that the author adopts the method of qualitative research, and with the help of in-depth interviews in the field, divides 14 overseas Chinese of Qingtian nationality into two generations, with the main line of "motivation to go abroad-adaptation abroad-motivation to return to China" as the main line. From the main dimensions of physiology, interpersonal relationship, employment, psychology and so on, this paper focuses on the cultural conflict and readjustment faced by overseas Chinese after returning to China, and combines it with their experiences abroad. Further explore the relationship between foreign adaptation and re-adaptation. In addition, the paper also briefly analyzes the intergenerational differences between the overseas adaptation and readaptation of returned overseas Chinese. This study also reflects the mutual penetration and influence of eastern and western cultures.
