国族符号、“自我东方化”与国族想象——读杨瑞松《病夫、黄祸与睡狮》

【摘要】：杨瑞松通过对"病夫"、"黄祸"与"睡狮"等三个近代"西方"中国/中国人形象的考察,指出近代中国知识分子对这些符号的"挪用和重编",使它们成为百年来中国人共有的集体记忆符号。这些符号的国族化过程,也存在德里克所言的"自我东方化"现象。国族符号由于具有区别"我族"与"他族"、强化"我族"自我认同的效用,使它们成为中国近代国族建构想象中的重要元素。
[Abstract]:Through the investigation of three modern "western" Chinese / Chinese images, such as "sick man", "yellow disaster" and "sleeping lion", Yang Ruisong pointed out that the "misappropriation and recompilation" of these symbols by modern Chinese intellectuals made them become collective memory symbols shared by the Chinese people in the past hundred years. In the process of nationalization of these symbols, there is also the phenomenon of "self-Orientalization" as Derek calls it. Because of the distinction between "our nationality" and "other nationality" and the strengthening of the utility of "our nationality" self-identity, the national symbols have become an important element in the imagination of the construction of the national nationality in modern China.
