[Abstract]:After the conquest of the former Qin Dynasty, the Tuoba clan complex was dissolved through the measure of "scattering its tribe". The policy of dissolution of tribes by Emperor Daowu of the Northern Wei Dynasty was implemented in the pre-Qin Dynasty, and the tribal consortia conquered or annexed were also divided into smaller tribal units, which were incorporated into the ruling system of the Northern Wei Dynasty. Tribal organizations and chiefs of the original clan still hold control over their people. This state-recognized, authorized tribal sheikh, known as the Northern Wei Dynasty, is the leader of the people. The chieftain of this nature was also seen in the Sixteen Kingdoms and was adopted by the Northern Wei Dynasty. From the perspective of comparative study, it is helpful to understand the origin and essence of the policy of dissolution of tribes and the system of chieftains of the people in Northern Wei Dynasty by investigating the dissolution of tribes and the chiefs of the territorial people in the period of Sixteen Kingdoms.
