Nov 12, 2016   Pre-order prices of Core, Celeron and Pentium "Kaby Lake" CPUs

Next generation of Intel desktop processors, codenamed "Kaby Lake", are now available for pre-order in US. The processors can be pre-ordered from several online US stores. One of the stores, ShopBLT, lists boxed and OEM Core i5 and i7 models, which will be released in January. The store also lists Core i3, Pentium and Celeron "Kaby Lake" processors, that may launch at the same time. Pre-order prices of unreleased CPUs in the ShopBLT store seem to be identical to current generation of desktop Intel chips, based on Skylake microarchitecture.   [Full story]

Oct 02, 2016: New CPU comparison page

To make it easier to choose processors for comparison, I created a separate page, called, well, Compare CPUs. That page offers two different selection methods. You can browse all microprocessors for a specific family, socket, codename and microarchitecture, and then select one or more CPUs from a list. You can also type in CPU specifications, and the page will show all CPUs with these specs. The latter method is identical to the suggestion feature of our site search box. Once you choose at least two microprocessors, a link to a CPU comparison page will be displayed.

Sep 29, 2016: Improvements to the suggestion tool

I've made some improvements to our standard search field, that you can find in the top right corner of every page. The field has a built-in suggestion tool. When you type CPU characteristics into the search field, the tool looks for all matching processors and displays them in a pull-down menu below the search box.   [More]

Sep 23, 2016: New links to CPU collector sites

I added a few sites of CPU collectors to our links section. The new sites are (in alphabetical order): Hardware Museum, Neology and Retrokolekcja.pl (in Polish). I also added links to two pages, CPU Collection Romania page on Facebook, and Illusory Stone Garden page on Picasaweb.

If you need to browse a large number (hundreds) of CPU, S-spec or CPUID pages, and collect data for your own research or project, please contact us to ensure that your access is not blocked by our anti-scrapper filter. Generally, we allow it as long as our content and/or research results, based on our content, will not be available online. 99.97% visitors should not worry about this as our anti-scrapper script blocks at most a few IP addresses per day.

Jul 23, 2016: Latest changes and new additions

There were several additions to the site and one important change, that will affect visitors using adblockers. Let's start with the good news. I added missing Bristol Ridge / Stoney Ridge APUs and started updating all related pages (codenames, family descriptions, etc). Intel processor number pages and AMD model number pages were split so that each manufacturer now has 4 types of pages: desktop, mobile, server and embedded. This reduced the size of pages. Now, the bad news. The time of polite appeals to turn off ad blocking is over. It doesn't work. Now, if your browser or computer blocks ads and you visited 20 or so pages, your access to page content can be blocked. You have been warned. By they way, thanks to 2% of all visitors who actually disabled their adblockers.

Nov 10, 2016   Intel expands Core i3 mobile lineup with i3-6006U CPU

Intel released new ultra-low power processor for mid-class notebooks earlier this month. Dubbed as the i3-6006U, the microprocessor belongs to 6th generation of mobile products and it is based on Skylake microarchitecture. The i3-6006U comes with standard features of Core i3 mobile parts: two CPU cores with shared 3 MB L3 cache, integrated GPU and memory controller units, support for HyperThreading, and lack of advanced x86 technologies like Turbo Boost.   [Full story]

Jun 11, 2016   Intel discontinues Xeon E7 v2 processors

We already reported this week that Intel launched new Xeon E7 v4 microprocessors for Brickland platform, which uses socket 2011-1. Alongside with introduction of new products, Intel announced discontinuation dates for Xeon E7 v2 server CPUs, also compatible with the socket 2011-1. These Ivy Bridge-based processors were introduced in February 2014. They had up to 15 cores, up to 37.5 MB L3 cache and worked with DDR3 memory.   [Full story]

Jun 10, 2016   New budget A4 Pro-3350B APU is available

New AMD A4 business-class APU, dubbed A4-3350B, was released in May. The processor is based on year-old Carrizo-L design and produced on 28nm manufacturing process. Similar to other "Carrizo-L" A4-series products, the A4-3350B comes with 4 cores, 2 MB L2 cache and Radeon graphics with 128 shader cores. Nonetheless, the APU does offer better performance than older Carrizo-L models, such as A4-7210, due to increased CPU and GPU frequencies.   [Full story]

Jun 10, 2016   Intel launched Xeon E7-4800 v4 and E7-8800 v4 server CPUs

Intel launched Xeon E7 v4 microprocessors earlier this week. Codenamed Broadwell-EX, Xeon E7 v4 products are aimed at enterprise and mission-critical applications, and scale up to 4 or 8 sockets depending on SKU. Additionally, third-party vendors are expected to offer systems supporting up to 32 sockets. New in the forth generation Xeon E7 CPUs is more efficient Broadwell microarchitecture, more cores and support for more memory.   [Full story]

Jun 09, 2016   Model numbers of Apollo Lake processors revealed

A new Product Change Notification (PCN) document, published by Intel on Monday, revealed several model numbers of unreleased Celeron and Pentium microprocessors. The PCN document notified Intel customers that certain Intel products will be manufactured in both Malaysia and Vietnam, and a list of affected products included Celeron J3355, J3455, N3450 and N3350 model numbers, along with Pentium J4205 and N4200.   [Full story]

Jun 02, 2016   Preliminary specifications of Intel Xeon E5-1600 v4 CPUs

Earlier this week, Intel introduced Core i7 high-end processors for socket 2011-3 platform, and we suspect that their workstation counterparts from E5-1600 v4 series will be launched really soon. The E5-1600 v4 microprocessors are similar to previously launched E5-2600 v4 series, however they do not have as many cores and do not support dual-processing. May 11, 2016   Unreleased Celeron, Pentium and Core i3 desktop CPUs spotted

Earlier this week, Intel published a Product Change Notification (PCN) document that revealed several upcoming Celeron, Pentium and Core i3 processors. They are likely to be launched during next Skylake refresh. New Core i3 CPUs are Core i3-6120, i3-6120T and i3-6320T. Pentium family will be refreshed with G4420, G4420T, G4520T and G4540 SKUs. There will be also two Celeron SKUs, G3920T and G3940.   [Full story]

May 02, 2016   Embedded Pentium D and Xeon D CPUs released

In the first quarter of 2016, Intel expanded Xeon D and Pentium lineups with new "Broadwell-DE" models for microservers and communications markets. New features of these CPUs were increased number of cores, up to 12 and 16 on some SKUs, and larger size of L3 cache. In April, Intel released embedded D1519, D-1529, D-1539 and D-1559 models with the number of cores ranging from 4 to 12. Unlike other Pentium D and Xeon D family members, designed for commercial temperature range, the D-15x9 processors can operate in extended temperature range from -40°C to +85°C.   [Full story]

Mar 20, 2016   Intel quietly launched Core i7-6660U processor

New Intel mobile microprocessor has been added to Intel's pricelist. The newly released CPU, which belongs to Skylake-U class of processors with low or ultra low power consumption, has a model number of i7-6660U. The processor replaced Core i7-6650U, that was available in laptop PCs since last September. The Core i7-6660U offers 200 MHz higher operating frequency at the same price level as the 6650U.   [Full story]

Mar 01, 2016   AMD announces A10-7890K APU and Athlon X4 880K CPU

AMD today announced two new flagship products for socket FM2+ platform, an A10-7890K and Athlon X4 880K. The A10-7890K Accelerated Processing Unit runs at 4 GHz, or 200 MHz faster than its predecessor, and it comes with low-noise Wraith Cooler, rated at 125 Watt. The Athlon X4 880K operates at the same base speed and does not have integrated graphics. This processor is also shipped with "quiet" thermal solution.   [Full story]
