【摘要】：正一九七六年七月四日是茅盾八十寿诞,他的家人数月前筹划了一次家庭寿宴,准备邀请慧英夫妇和玛娅一家参加,著名诗人臧克家两年前就开始张罗起为茅公做寿之事,当年一月正式提议邀集北京文艺界十一位老朋友相聚丰泽园共同为茅公八十寿辰祝贺庆寿。在血雨腥风的"文革"后期,因发生了"天安门事件",形势的突变,时局之紧张,原来安排的祝寿活动只能作罢。茅盾素来不给自己庆贺生日,当八十大寿来临之际他感慨万端,借此写下了一首五言古体《八十自述》,
