形象学视角下葛浩文《红高梁家族》英译本研究

【摘要】：莫言(1955—),首位国内诺贝尔文学奖获得者,《红高粱家族》为其扛鼎之作,呈现出高密人民英勇抗日、崇尚生命伟力的画面。国内外诸多学者致力于对《红高粱家族》英译本进行多维度研究,而从形象学角度探讨《红高粱家族》英译本的研究成果相对较少,因此本文从形象学视角探究葛浩文的《红高粱家族》英译本,旨在拓宽文学翻译研究的视角。比较文学形象学作为跨文化研究的重要领域,着眼于一国文学中的异国形象研究,着重于对异国形象塑造过程中影射出的深层社会背景和文化内涵等的分析。在翻译过程中,译者替代文学作品的原创者成为“自我”,并从“自我”的视角重新审视、描述、塑造原创文学作品中的形象。于译者而言,原创作品的形象即“他者”。本文从形象学角度对葛浩文的《红高粱家族》英译本进行研究,探究文学作品中异国形象发生变化的诸多原因。依据比较文学形象学的研究方法,从文本内部的词汇层次、等级关系层次和故事情节层次和文本外部的社会集体想象物、信息来源与对异国的情感、想象与态度展开细致分析。在词汇层,译者多采用直译、音译和意译的翻译方法来重塑“他者”形象。在等级关系层,译者扩大了原创文学作品的等级关系,用委婉语表达政治词汇,重构“他者”形象。在故事情节层,译者通过删减、改写冗长段落等方法来调整故事情节,重塑“他者”形象。译者在重塑“他者”形象过程中采取的翻译策略受“自我”所属的社会集体想象物、信息来源与对异国的情感、想象与态度的影响。研究表明,将形象学理论运用于文学翻译研究是可行的,其对于加快中国文学走上世界化的道路,实现东西方文化交流具有重要意义。
[Abstract]:Mo Yen-yu, the first Nobel Prize winner in literature in China, the Red Sorghum Family, carried the tripod for his work, showing the picture of the people of Gaomi fighting against Japan bravely and advocating the power of life. Many scholars at home and abroad have devoted themselves to the study of the English translation of the Red Sorghum Family, but the research results of the English version of the Red Sorghum Family are relatively few from the perspective of image. Therefore, this paper explores the English translation of the Red Sorghum Family from the perspective of imageology in order to broaden the perspective of literary translation. As an important field of cross-cultural study, comparative literature imageology focuses on the study of foreign images in a country's literature, focusing on the analysis of the deep social background and cultural connotation of the foreign images in the process of shaping them. In the process of translation, the translator replaces the originator of literary works as the "ego", and reexamines, describes and shapes the image of the original literary works from the perspective of "ego". For the translator, the image of the original work is "the other". This paper studies the English translation of the Red Sorghum Family by Gehhot from the perspective of imageology, and probes into the causes of the changes in foreign images in literary works. According to the research method of comparative literature image, this paper makes a detailed analysis of the inner lexical level, the hierarchical relationship level, the story plot level and the social collective imagination, the information source and the emotion, imagination and attitude of the foreign country. At lexical level, translators often use literal translation, transliteration and free translation to reconstruct the image of "the other". At the level of hierarchy, the translator expands the hierarchy of original literary works, uses euphemism to express political vocabulary, and reconstructs the image of "other". At the storyline level, the translator adjusts the story and reconstructs the image of "the other" by deleting and rewriting the long paragraphs. The translation strategies adopted by the translator in the process of reconstructing the image of the "other" are influenced by the social collective imagination, the source of information and the emotion, imagination and attitude of the "ego". The study shows that it is feasible to apply the theory of image science to the study of literary translation. It is of great significance to accelerate the development of Chinese literature on the road of globalization and to realize the cultural exchange between the East and the West.
