《被迷惑的传教士》翻译实践报告

【摘要】：小说翻译作为读者接受外国文学的桥梁,在文化交流中有着极为重要的作用。小说的翻译不同于诗歌、戏剧等文学作品的翻译。一般而言,小说翻译中常见的特点包括:小说叙事角度的处理、人物形象的保持和重塑、风格保持等。本文基于作者参与的翻译任务,即小说《被迷惑的传教士》的翻译。该小说为托马斯·哈代的短篇小说之一,描写了女房东与牧师之间的爱情瓜葛与生活遭遇,重现了十九世纪英国劳动人民的苦难生活。西方学者从翻译的不同方面提出了诸多理论,如功能对等理论和目的论等。本文作者以目的论为理论指导,以小说《被迷惑的传教士》为案例,分析其翻译过程中遇到的问题及其解决方法。在小说翻译中,为保持人物形象和突出语言特点,译者需选择不同翻译技巧进行处理,如直译与意译,增译与省译以及句式重组等翻译方法。本文包括四方面内容。首先,对翻译任务做了简要介绍。其次,对翻译前期准备工作做了简要描述。然后,分析了翻译过程中出现的问题以及解决的方法,包括长难句翻译、小说修辞翻译以及其他问题。最后,总结了翻译过程中的部分问题并指出了可改进的地方。
[Abstract]:As a bridge for readers to accept foreign literature, novel translation plays an extremely important role in cultural exchange. The translation of novels is different from that of poetry, drama and other literary works. Generally speaking, the common features in the translation of novels include the treatment of narrative angle, the preservation and remodeling of characters, the preservation of style, and so on. This paper is based on the translation task of the author, that is, the translation of the novel Missionaries. The novel, one of Thomas Hardy's short stories, depicts the relationship between landlady and pastor, and reproduces the suffering of the working people in the 19th century. Western scholars put forward many theories from different aspects of translation, such as functional equivalence theory and Skopos theory. Under the guidance of Skopos theory and the case study of the novel Missionaries bewitched, the author analyzes the problems encountered in his translation and their solutions. In the translation of novels, in order to maintain the image of characters and highlight the linguistic characteristics, translators should choose different translation techniques, such as literal and free translation, incremental and provincial translation, and sentence restructuring. This paper includes four aspects. First of all, the translation task is briefly introduced. Secondly, a brief description of the preparatory work in the early stage of translation is given. Then, the paper analyzes the problems in the process of translation and their solutions, including translation of long difficult sentences, rhetorical translation of novels and other problems. Finally, some problems in the process of translation are summarized and some improvements are pointed out.
