操纵论视角下《屠

【摘要】:厄普顿辛克莱作为揭黑幕作家,其代表作《屠场》在20世纪初曾轰动美国社会。它以现实主义的写实手法如实记下了资本主义在其发展过程中为积累资本对工人的残酷压迫,并曾有力地推动美国社会变革。该作品出版后不久,美国于1906年通过了《关于纯净食品和药物法》并昭告全国。小说多次写到工人的罢工斗争,《屠场》也因此被一些学者誉为美国第一部无产阶级小说。这部小说在中国已被译介多次,尤其在20世纪30年代达到高潮。20世纪80年代出现了翻译研究的文化转向。勒菲弗尔的操纵论则是翻译研究文化派的一个著名理论。勒菲弗尔将翻译看作是对原文本的改写,而一切改写,无论其意图如何,都是对一定意识形态和诗学的反映,并借此操纵文学使其以某种方式在一个特定社会里发挥功用,这样就打破了只局限于语言层面的传统翻译观念,从而转向翻译背后的文化层面。勒菲弗尔认为翻译受一系列翻译外部因素的限制和操纵。除了意识形态和诗学,影响翻译的因素还有赞助人。意识形态影响译者对译本的主题选择,翻译方法的选择和细节处理;诗学作为社会文学标准的总和,对翻译中语言的运用有着重要影响;赞助人则通过控制意识形态对翻译的出版和发行起到重要作用。本文在操纵论指导下,选取郭沫若,萧乾和薄景山的译本,介绍译者所处的时代背景,通过描述研究和对比分析方法,从意识形态,诗学和赞助人三方面来分析《屠场》的三个汉译本,探讨其如何影响翻译题材的选择及翻译过程。在意识形态方面,分析了主流意识形态对译者选材及翻译过程的影响,具体从政治,道德与文化角度展开,在诗学方面,探讨了主流诗学及译者个人诗学对译者文学观念及翻译过程的影响,分别从译者对词,句及风格等方面的处理展开。通过分析对比三个译本,证明了不同年代的主流意识形态,诗学及赞助人确实影响了译者的选材,翻译策略和译本的出版与发行,从而揭示了操纵论的有效性和实用性。
[Abstract]:Upton Sinclair, as a black-screen writer, his masterpiece, abattoir, hit American society in the early 20 th century. It truthfully wrote down capitalism's cruel oppression on workers in the course of its development in order to accumulate capital, and it was able to promote American social change. Shortly after its publication, the United States passed the Pure Food and Drug Act in 1906 and declared it to the nation. The Slaughterhouse was praised by some scholars as the first proletarian novel in the United States. The novel has been translated many times in China, especially in the 1930s reached its climax. In the 1980s, there was a cultural turn in translation studies. Lefevere's manipulation theory is a famous theory of cultural school in translation studies. Lefevere regards translation as a rewriting of the original text, and all rewriting, regardless of its intention, is a reflection of a certain ideology and poetics, and thus manipulates literature so that it can function in a particular society in a certain way. In this way, the traditional concept of translation, which is confined to the linguistic level, has been broken and turned to the cultural level behind translation. Lefevere believes that translation is restricted and manipulated by a series of external factors. In addition to ideology and poetics, the factors affecting translation are patronage. Ideology influences the translator's choice of theme, method of translation and processing of details, poetics, as the sum of social and literary standards, has an important influence on the use of language in translation. Sponsors play an important role in the publication and distribution of translation by controlling ideology. Under the guidance of manipulation theory, this paper selects the translations of Guo Moruo, Xiao Qian and Bo Jingshan, introduces the background of the translator's time, and introduces the ideology by means of descriptive research and comparative analysis. Poetics and patronage are used to analyze the three Chinese versions of abattoir, and how to influence the choice of translation subjects and the process of translation. In the aspect of ideology, this paper analyzes the influence of the mainstream ideology on the selection of translators and the process of translation, from the angle of politics, morality and culture, and poetics. This paper probes into the influence of the mainstream poetics and the translator's personal poetics on the translator's literary concept and the process of translation, respectively, from the aspects of the translator's word, sentence and style. Through the analysis and comparison of the three versions, it is proved that the mainstream ideology, poetics and patronage of different ages have influenced the selection of translators, translation strategies and the publication and distribution of the translations, thus revealing the validity and practicability of the manipulation theory.
