[Abstract]:As the center and subject of translation activities, translators have long been marginalized in the long history of the study of translation theory. The "cultural turn" of western translation studies in the 1970s has brought translation into the field of cultural studies, which has promoted the study of the target language and culture. The subject of the translator's subjectivity has gradually become apparent in translation studies. It has become a hot topic in translation studies. Guided by George Steiner's four-step theory of translation on the basis of philosophical hermeneutics, this paper analyzes the Chinese translation of the Joy Luck Club. This paper attempts to decompose the abstract concept of translator's subjectivity into four specific translation steps: "trust", "invasion" and "absorption" and "compensation", in order to gain a concrete understanding of how the translator's subjectivity affects and acts on the translation. Therefore, the translator's subjectivity plays an important role in the process of translation and has some reference value for the study of the best-selling book Joy Luck Club. Firstly, the thesis gives a detailed overview of the research on the translator's subjectivity after the cultural turn at home and abroad. Then it introduces the theoretical basis of hermeneutics of this thesis, focusing on George Steiner's four-step theory of translation and its application in the study of translator's subjectivity. Then, the author discusses Cheng Naishan's translator's subjectivity at the macro level, focusing on her life experience, writing characteristics and translation intention. Then the microcosmic analysis of the translation is carried out. Cheng Naishan's high recognition of the original text, her language skills, and her similar immigration experience give her full confidence in the original. Her translation of the title and scenery reflects her invasion of the original. Her language is feminist writing, dotted with the humor of Shanghai dialect, which is her "input" to the translation. Finally, the author finds that her "compensation" for the implied meaning of italics and names in the original text is not sufficient, so she puts forward corresponding suggestions. Through detailed analysis, the author draws the following conclusions: George. Steiner's four-step theory provides an objective method for the study of translator's subjectivity, which is effective and instructive.
