美国汉学家余国藩的《西游记》研究

　　小说《西游记》自明代诞生以来一直是学术界关注的焦点。不仅国内学者进行过各式各样的解读,国外学者也积极参与其中。美国华裔汉学家余国藩不仅被公认为《西游记》英译本的最佳译者,同时也被视为从宗教角度研究《西游记》的权威之一。本文拟将余国藩发表的专著和相关论文作为主要研究对象对他的研究成果做出述评。本文分为六个部分:第一章指出宗教在《西游记》研究中的核心地位,而美国汉学家余国藩的研究成果对于《西游记》的宗教解读具有重要的借鉴意义;其次呈现当前对余国藩和其学术成果的研究现状;最后阐释本文的研究理论和研究方法。第二章聚焦余国藩对于《西游记》虚构性的解读。以胡适和鲁迅为首的一批现代学者否认宗教在《西游记》美学价值形成中所起到的作用。余国藩对他们的观点进行了猛烈的抨击并强调了宗教在《西游记》虚构性写作中的贡献。他认为小说作者正是通过宗教将历史材料转化为小说里的虚构成分,进而创造出虚拟世界,而这丰富多彩的虚拟世界才是《西游记》的魅力所在。而后本章从当时的学术风向和环境的角度分析余国藩上述学术观点的根源。第三章对余国藩对《西游记》的主题解读作出综述。余国藩认为西游记主题可归纳为冒险故事,佛教的业报和赎罪故...
