《檀香刑》中汉语本源概念的英译研究

【摘要】：《檀香刑》是莫言的代表作之一,国内对其的研究颇为广泛。但对其英译本的研究却很少。国内翻译研究很大程度上集中在中国典籍和古典文学,当代小说的翻译研究仍处于边缘地位。因此,本研究以何元建提出的本源概念及其翻译策略为基础,选取莫言小说《檀香刑》及其葛浩文的英译本为研究对象,通过对小说中本源概念分类并建立数据库的方法,统计和分析四类本源概念的翻译策略,以期为小说中的本源概念的翻译有所贡献。研究发现:(1)《檀香刑》中本源概念共有323例,其中语言类本源概念238;物质类20;宗教迷信类19,社会类46。(2)《檀香刑》中本源概念的翻译策略共有五种:直译,意译,换译,省略和合译,其中合译又包括直译+意译,直译+换译两种。直译是运用最多的手段,有171个本源概念用直译,意译90个,换译43个,省译4个,合译15个。(3)《檀香刑》中本源概念的翻译模式是直译意译替换合译省略。通过分析《檀香刑》中本源概念的翻译特点,我们可以得出这样的结论:译者在翻译过程中既充分考虑了译文的可读性及目的语读者的接受能力和理解能力,又保留了源语中丰富的文化内涵,达到了传播中国文化的目的。
