【摘要】：《尤利西斯》被公认为西方文学最具影响力的作品之一,自其问世以来,对于这部意识流巨著的分析和研究不胜枚举。但乔伊斯在该作品中采用了前所未有的“实验性文字形式”,这为以传统语言学为基础的传统文体学研究造成了障碍。因此,为数众多的文学研究所得出的结论迫切地需要语言层面上的证据支持。与此同时,以系统功能语法为主要理论基础的功能文体学已发展成为一门影响较为广泛的文体学科,其中的及物性系统和评价系统已被前人研究证明对于文学文体具有独到的解释力。及物性系统将研究重心放在对小句结构的客观研究上,而评价系统则更为关注话语使用者的主观态度,因此本文认为及物性分析和评价系统中的态度子系统分析的结合可为《尤利西斯》中的角色塑造提供更为全面系统的视角。本文借助上述两种理论工具,采用定性和定量分析相结合的分析方法对《尤利西斯》第三章中主人公角色塑造进行功能文体学分析,最终得以证明功能文体学是阐释和研究意识流小说文体的有效理论工具。本文共分为五章。第一章“导论”部分介绍了本文的研究背景、研究意义等基础信息之后,第二章“文献综述”回顾了前人对功能文体学和《尤利西斯》的研究。作为功能文体学的理论基础,系统功能语法的基本框架在第三章中得以呈现,两种广泛应用于文学文本研究的理论及物性系统和评价系统为本章的介绍重点。第四章“《尤利西斯》第三章中角色塑造的功能文体学分析”首先将《尤利西斯》第三章中的话语分为了两种：如实描写主人公斯蒂芬的各种主观内心活动的内心独白话语,以及在不同主题的内心独白中起过渡作用的现实事件话语。随后通过对现实事件话语及物性分析,本文发现,与其他角色相对比,斯蒂芬直接充当及物物质小句动作者的可能性较低,其发出的动作对周遭事物缺乏影响力,这与乔学评论界对斯蒂芬角色形象的一贯认识相吻合。接着,根据评价理论的思想,本文将不同主题内心独白话语中的态度资源分为正面和负面态度资源,经过定量和定性相结合的分析手段,阐释了斯蒂芬对不同事物所采取的不同态度,例如对艺术和过往的欣赏,对现处环境的不满以及对女性和自身所抱有的模糊态度等等。这些发现为惯有的文学评论提供了语言层面的证据支持。最后一章“结语”总结了全文的主要发现并展望了将来的研究发展方向。
