[Abstract]:As an important theory of Russian formalism movement, the theory of "defamiliarization" was put forward by the representative figure of formalism, Shklovsky, in his famous paper "Art as a means" in 1917. This is a programmatic paper of the Russian formalism movement. In this article, Shklovsky wrote a famous saying about art: "the existence of something called art is in order to call back people's feelings of life and to make people feel things." The purpose of art is to make things feel as you see them, not as you perceive them; The artistic technique is the 'abnormal' technique of things is the method of complicating form, it increases the difficulty and delay of feeling, since the process of comprehension in art is for its own purpose, it should be prolonged; "this passage shows us Shklovsky's answer to major questions about the purpose of art, the process of art, and what art is, and" strangeness "is the key to answering these questions. Tony Morrison is an outstanding black woman writer in the world today. Her latest novel, Mercy, was published in 2008. When it came out, it was highly valued. In her novel, Tony Morrison fully demonstrated her anticonventional spirit in narrative and language, and inherited her own unique style and style. This paper is based on text analysis, from the angle of defamiliarization, tries to explore and demonstrate the aesthetic effect of defamiliarization achieved in "mercy". This thesis first introduces the author's life and works, as well as the research status of Morrison at home and abroad, and then the main part of the thesis: The first chapter introduces the concept of defamiliarization and traces the origin and development of the theory, and then discusses the possibility of defamiliarization in mercy. This includes the similarity between the method of realizing defamiliarization in literature and Morrison's view of art and the theory of defamiliarization. The second chapter analyzes the realization of the strangeness effect in the novel from the narrative strategy and the language of the novel. The use of multiple narrative perspectives and narrative discourse breaks the plot development model and narrative norms of traditional novels. Perceptible metaphors and images make the language as a whole strongly receptive. These narrative and linguistic techniques extend reading. The aesthetic experience. The aesthetic effect of defamiliarization has been achieved. The third chapter is intended to discuss the aesthetic influence of strangeness in the novel Mercy. This chapter discusses the uniqueness of the work and the artistic perception acquired by the reader in reading the novel and the method of obtaining the artistic perception. Through the above chapters, this paper finally draws the conclusion: Tony Morrison through the use of a variety of techniques, to change the traditional narrative, innovative language expression skills. The application of these defamiliarization techniques increases the difficulty of reading and understanding Mercy, prolongs the process of readers' aesthetic perception and enables readers to acquire artistic perception.
