“光辉与阴霾”-《杯酒留痕》与《白噪音》的“死亡”主题比较

【摘要】:作为文学作品中一个长盛不衰的主题,“死亡”一直是众多作家关注的焦点,它饱含了就人性和生命意义等问题的思考。20世纪下半叶,美国作家唐·德里罗和英国作家格雷厄姆·斯威夫特从“死亡”这个相同角度,分别创作了小说《白噪音》和《杯酒留痕》,借此重新审视了当时的社会,并且就“如何看待死亡和生存”这个人类永恒的问题给出了自已的见解。 本文拟在已有研究成果的基础上,从“死亡”这个两部小说共同的主题切入,对《白噪音》和《杯酒留痕》中的相关文本进行解读和分析。首先从对待死亡的态度、与死亡斗争的方式和死亡造成的结果三个方面,比较两部小说就“死亡”主题的不同展现。其次,从人-自然-科技之间的相互关系、阶级与社会和信仰与历史观三个角度,分析产生这些不同态度、斗争方式和最终结果的外在和内在原因。最后探讨两部小说所体现的生死观的相似内涵和组成部分,即灾难、迷信和家族继承三点。 虽然两本小说的主题都是“死亡”,但作者借描绘死亡以讨论生命和生存的意义,希望能认清“死亡”,从而更好地理解现实生活。《白噪音》体现了唐·德里罗所看到的美国繁荣背后的精神空虚和科技发展所造成的隐患。格雷厄姆·斯威夫特则通过书写《杯酒留痕》回顾历史,展望国家的复苏和重生。由此可见,文学创作深受作者当时所处的社会背景的影响,同时代的作家在处理同一个主题时,社会环境差异会影响其写作手法和表现形式。因此两位作者在书写“死亡”这个相同主题时,运用不同的表现形式,呈现出对现状的不同思考。
[Abstract]:As an everlasting theme in literary works, "death" has always been the focus of attention of many writers. It is full of thinking about human nature and the significance of life in the second half of the 20th century. American writer Don Delilo and British writer Graham Swift, from the same perspective of "death," wrote the novel White noise and the glass of wine marks, respectively, in order to re-examine the society at that time. And gave his own opinion on the eternal question of how to look at death and survival. Based on the existing research results, this paper attempts to interpret and analyze the relevant texts in White noise and glass wine marks from the common theme of the two novels "death". First of all, from the attitude towards death, the way of fighting against death and the result of death, the difference between the two novels on the theme of "death" is compared. Secondly, from the three angles of the relationship between man, nature and technology, class and society, belief and historical view, the external and internal causes of these different attitudes, the way of struggle and the final result are analyzed. Finally, the paper discusses the similar connotation and components of the life and death view embodied in the two novels, that is, disaster, superstition and family inheritance. Although the theme of both novels is "death," the author hopes to recognize "death" by depicting death to discuss the meaning of life and existence. White noise reflects what Don Delillo sees as the spiritual emptiness behind America's prosperity and the hidden dangers of technological development. Graham Swift looks back to history by writing the glass mark, looking forward to the nation's recovery and rebirth. It can be seen that literary creation is deeply influenced by the social background of the author at that time. When contemporary writers deal with the same theme, social environment differences will affect their writing techniques and forms of expression. Therefore, in writing the same theme of "death", the two authors use different forms of expression and present different thinking about the present situation.
