[Abstract]:As the first female American writer to receive Guggenheim Foundation Foundation, Nera Larsen became one of the important figures in the Harlem Renaissance. Larson's works are deeply concerned about the existence of black and white women in the United States and their struggle. In his masterpiece quicksand, Larson explores the distortion and transformation of the white mainstream values to the image of African-American women, criticizing racial discrimination as well as whipping the influence of gender discrimination, cultural hegemony and family factors on black women. From the multiple dimensions of race, gender, culture and family, she deeply exposed the awakening of the subjective consciousness of black women and the pressure on the construction of the subjective consciousness of black women. Unable to find their own identity in a dual racial environment, black and white hybrids inevitably become self-defined losers and victims in racial society. By combining the depiction and description of race, sex and class in the novel text, this paper tries to analyze the characters of the protagonist in quicksand from the perspective of subjectivity, to explore the awakening, construction and failure of black women's subjectivity consciousness. The aim is to provide a new entry point for the study of Larsen's works in China. This paper is divided into four chapters. The first chapter briefly introduces Larsen's main achievements, briefly introduces his works, and combs the research of his works by domestic and foreign scholars. The second chapter focuses on the awakening of African-American women's subjective consciousness under multiple pressures, including the awakening of her subjective consciousness as a black woman and the awakening of her subjective consciousness as a black woman. The third chapter discusses the causes of the failure of the subjectivity construction of black women: influenced by the invasion of white hegemonic culture, racial discrimination, sexism and broken family relations, black women, especially black and white hybrids, are doomed to be unable to define themselves. Therefore, it is impossible to construct one's own subjectivity. Chapter four is the conclusion. On the basis of summing up the above, the author discusses the reason why African-American women lose their subjectivity under multiple oppression, and further points out that the root of black and white hybrids' inability to construct their own subjectivity is the sense of racial belonging that they can never obtain.
