评价理论视角下的《蝇王》分析

【摘要】:评价理论起源于系统功能语法,是人际意义中的延伸。评价理论有三个子系统,分别是态度系统,介入系统与级差系统。本文用评价理论分析威廉·戈尔丁1954年原版小说《蝇王》中的人物及环境描写。《蝇王》中有不少人物以及环境描写,并且有许多评价资源可以用来表达人们的态度,评判以及鉴赏。用评价理论分析《蝇王》是合理可行的,但是国内外专家学者应用评价理论分析小说《蝇王》还是比较少的。评价理论是一种新的方式用于理解和诠释小说《蝇王》和其中的角色,因此读者可以更好地理解和明白小说塑造的角色。 此次分析可以分为三方面,分别是评价系统的三个子系统,态度,介入和级差。同些,此次研究还关注情感,评判和态度的积极与消极两个方面。本次研究将围绕以下两个问题展开: 1.小说《蝇王》中有哪几种评价资源?评价资源在小说《蝇王》中是怎么样 体现的? 2用评价理论怎样分析小说《蝇王》?评价资源在《蝇王》中是如何体现的? 本次研究采用定性的方法分析小说《蝇王》,为了完成此次研究,将采用以下三个步骤:首先,要将小说中的人物为不同的类型,好的或者坏的,温和的还是邪恶的。第二,评价理论的三个子系统要用于分析小说的人物和环境。第三,通过用评价系统的三个子系统归纳分析的人物和描写,从而理解小说角色的塑造。 主要发现:1.分析表明,小说《蝇王》中有评价资源,并且评价意义可以从三个不同的方面分析:态度,介入和级差。2.在态度系统中,我们可以发现情感意义在小说中通过词汇直接表现出来,也通过环境描写间接表现出来。同时,小说中还存在积极的和消极的情感。一般来说,积极的词汇传递积极的情感,消极的词汇传递消极的词汇。态度系统的三个系统情感,评判和鉴赏在小说里都有体现。用不同的积极的和消极的词汇可以表现出说话人对于其它人或者事的积极或者消极的评判,其中,评判主要指的是社会尊重。此外,我们也发现小说《蝇王》中态度和级差比介入更多。3.在介入系统中,我们发现小说《蝇王》中既有内言也有外言。4.在级差系统中,有些句子本身并没有级差意义,但这些句子能够通过情态词汇体现级差意义,从而更好的表现说话人的情感。5.通过用评价系统分析描述人物和环境的词汇,我们能够明白作者和说话人的动机和人物特征。 本次研究着重用评价理论分析小说《蝇王》,本次研究的意义如下:首先,本次研究提供了一种新理论分析《蝇王》,同时提供读者一种新方法理解小说《蝇王》。第二,读者能够更好更深刻地理解小说中的人物及性格和情感。第三,,本次研究能够让读者理解戈尔丁的写作立场和写作动机以及当时的社会背景和社会环境。第四,本次研究与教学法相联,并且注重词汇的运用。这对于写作和口语中选择适当的词汇是非常有用的。此外,这对于通过阅读了解词汇的隐含意义也是非常有帮助的。
[Abstract]:Appraisal theory originates from Systemic Functional Grammar and is an extension of interpersonal meaning. Appraisal theory has three subsystems, namely, attitude system, intervention system and gradation system. This paper analyzes the characterization and environmental description in William Golding's 1954 original novel Lord of the Flies by using evaluation theory. There are many evaluation resources that can be used to express people's attitudes, judgments and appreciation. It is reasonable and feasible to analyze Lord of the Flies with evaluation theory, but few experts and scholars at home and abroad have applied evaluation theory to analyze Lord of the Flies. Evaluation theory is a new way to understand and interpret Lord of the Flies and its roles. Readers can better understand and understand the role of fiction.
The analysis can be divided into three aspects, namely, the three subsystems of the evaluation system, attitude, intervention and grading. Similarly, this study also focuses on the positive and negative aspects of emotion, judgment and attitude.

2 how to use the theory of evaluation to analyze the novel "Lord of flies"? How does the evaluative resource manifest in Lord of the flies?
In order to complete the study, the following three steps will be adopted: first, the characters in the novel should be classified into different types, good or bad, mild or evil; second, the three subsystems of the evaluation theory should be used to analyze the characters and the environment of the novel. third, through the evaluation. The three subsystems of the valence system analyze the characters and descriptions in order to understand the shaping of the novel's role.
The main findings are as follows: 1. There are evaluation resources in Lord of the Flies, and the evaluation meaning can be analyzed from three different aspects: attitude, intervention and gradation. 2. In the attitude system, we can find that the emotional meaning is expressed directly through vocabulary and indirectly through environmental description. Generally speaking, positive words convey positive emotions and negative words convey negative ones. The three systems of emotions, judgments and appreciation in the attitude system are embodied in the novel. Different positive and negative words can show the speaker's positive or negative attitude toward other people or things. In addition, we also find that there are more attitudes and gradations in Lord of the Flies than there are interventions. 3. In the intervention system, we find that there are both inner and outer words in Lord of the Flies. 4. In the gradation system, some sentences have no gradation meaning, but these sentences can pass modal vocabulary. 5. We can understand the motivation and characteristics of the author and the speaker by analyzing the vocabulary describing the characters and the environment.
The significance of this study is as follows: Firstly, this study provides a new theoretical analysis of Lord of the Flies, and provides readers with a new way to understand the novel. Secondly, readers can better and more profoundly understand the characters, personalities and emotions in the novel. Fourthly, this study is related to teaching methods and pays attention to the use of vocabulary. It is very useful for choosing appropriate vocabulary in writing and oral English. In addition, it is also useful for understanding the implied meaning of vocabulary through reading. It often helps.
