《再见,哥伦布》中场景机制的运用及其对主题的揭示

【摘要】：中篇小说《再见,哥伦布》是美国犹太作家杰出代表之一、当代美国文坛泰斗菲利普.罗斯初登文坛的首次创作。尽管是初次尝试创作,《再见,哥伦布》却显示出作者不俗的写作才华、深刻的生活洞察力以及成熟的写作风格。小说以爱情故事为线索揭示了美国犹太青年对传统是继承还是反叛的矛盾心理及摆脱束缚、寻求自我的强烈愿望。在这部小说中,作者刻意设计了故事发生的两个主要场景———肖特山富人区和纽瓦克犹太人聚居区。微观上大量细腻的场景细节描写与宏观上主要场景时空上的交错转换相结合的场景机制,既为读者编织出了一幅美国犹太人的生活画卷,又呈现出美国犹太中产阶级郊区生活与普通犹太移民后裔城市生活的鲜明对立。同时,整个故事由主人公尼尔讲述,打破了全知的叙事视角,故事空间因此成为人物内心的外化,场景描写成为了刻画人物心理和揭示主题的重要手段,极具叙事功能性和主题揭示性。
[Abstract]:The novel goodbye, Columbus is one of the outstanding representatives of American Jewish writers, and Philip is one of the leading writers in contemporary American literature. Ross first made his debut in the literary world. Although it is the first attempt to create, goodbye Columbus shows the author's outstanding writing talent, profound life insight and mature writing style. Based on the love story, the novel reveals the contradictory psychology of American Jewish youth on whether to inherit or rebel from tradition and their strong desire to get rid of the shackles and seek themselves. In this novel, the author deliberately designs two main scenes of the story-the Short Mountain Rich District and the Newark Jewish settlement. The scene mechanism, which combines a large number of exquisite scene details with the interlaced transformation in time and space of the main scenes on the macro level, has not only woven a picture of the life of American Jews for the readers. It also shows the sharp opposition between the suburban life of the Jewish middle class in the United States and the urban life of ordinary Jewish immigrants. At the same time, the whole story is told by the protagonist Neil, breaking the omniscience narrative perspective, the story space has become the inner externalization of the characters, and the scene description has become an important means to depict the psychology of the characters and reveal the theme. It has great narrative function and theme disclosure.
