虚拟化环境下的能耗与性能平衡机制的研究

【摘要】:计算中心的能耗问题越来越受到广泛的关注,而在计算中心中主要使用虚拟化技术对计算资源进行管理和分配,因此,在虚拟化下的能耗性能平衡的研究是一个重要的研究方向。在虚拟化下,虚拟机管理器在分配系统资源中扮演着非常重要的角色,在传统的虚拟CPU到物理CPU的映射中,由于虚拟CPU中运行的应用类型是未知的,因此在传统的调度中,并未考虑虚拟CPU的具体类型对于系统的能耗性能平衡造成的影响,使得在虚拟化下的系统能耗与性能平衡有着很明显的提升空间。 本文以能耗延迟积作为能耗性能平衡的判定标准,通过对虚拟CPU的类型进行分类,将其分为CPU计算瓶颈型应用,内存瓶颈型应用以及网络I/O瓶颈型应用对其分别进行讨论,通过对资源竞争以及负载平衡的分析,针对虚拟CPU具体运行时状态,得到了虚拟CPU到物理CPU映射方法,这个映射方法能够提升系统的能耗与性能,在这个映射方法的基础上,,进一步针对内存瓶颈型应用的特征,对传统的频率调节方法进行了改进, 通过在Xen平台上的基准测试程序的实验,结果表明,本文提供的虚拟CPU到物理CPU的映射方法和物理CPU频率调节方法能够在尽量保证系统性能的情况下有效的降低能耗,从而提升系统的能耗延迟积,达到一个更好的能耗性能平衡的状态。
[Abstract]:More and more attention is paid to the problem of energy consumption in computing center, and virtualization technology is mainly used to manage and distribute computing resources in computing center. The study of energy performance balance in virtualization is an important research direction. In virtualization, the virtual machine manager plays a very important role in allocating system resources. In the traditional mapping of virtual CPU to physical CPU, because the type of application running in virtual CPU is unknown, it is in traditional scheduling. The effect of the specific type of virtual CPU on the energy consumption performance balance of the system is not considered, which makes the system energy consumption and performance balance in virtualization have obvious improvement space. By classifying the types of virtual CPU into CPU computing bottleneck applications, memory bottleneck applications and network I / O bottleneck applications, this paper takes energy delay product as the criterion of energy performance balance. Based on the analysis of resource competition and load balance, the mapping method of virtual CPU to physical CPU is obtained according to the specific runtime state of virtual CPU. This mapping method can improve the energy consumption and performance of the system. According to the characteristics of memory bottleneck application, the traditional frequency regulation method is further improved. The results show that, through the experiment of benchmark program on Xen platform, The mapping method of virtual CPU to physical CPU and the method of adjusting the frequency of physical CPU can effectively reduce the energy consumption while ensuring the system performance as far as possible, thus improving the energy consumption delay product of the system. Achieve a better energy performance balance state.
