万方小说创作论

【摘要】:万方是一位有着独特风格的当代作家,在三十多年的创作中,她不断地调整自己的写作姿态,追求艺术的真淳,为读者奉献了诸多一个有社会责感的作家对人生、命运、人性等问题所投入的观察与思考。论文以万方的小说及其创作历程为研究对象,考察了万方几十年文学追求之不同阶段的艺术目标、特质、走向和创作所遇“瓶颈”,分析了万方的创作两次遭遇自我挑战而“转向”的缘由,探讨了万方融于笔端的情感立场和作品所呈现的“宽容”的文化立场,对万方及其作品中的价值取向也予以了相应的阐释。论文三章的主要内容如下:初登文坛时,万方刻意选择“以重击重”的叙事以显示自己的与众不同。这时期的叙事之“重”首先体现在她小说人物性格的塑造上。这时期,万方塑造的小说人物性格都过于偏执,情感始终囿于狭隘的自我天地中。当面对生命不可承受之重时,他们选择以暴力极端的方式来反抗矛盾冲突,而人物的结局多指向死亡。这时期的叙事之“重”也体现在小说结构的安排上。万方将“戏剧冲突”运用在小说结构中,她喜欢用“突转”和“巧合”等戏剧手法来推动故事情节的发展,制造和化解矛盾。这时期的叙事之“重”还体现在小说的结局上。万方这时期的小说大多是没有结局的结局,她或者不设定小说人物的未来,或者在小说情节发展的高潮处戛然而止,追求给读者留下想象空间。这既是万方对小说结构的理解与选择,也是她对生活与命运的一种认知与判断。2000年,万方的创作经历了第一次“转向”,她意识到“以重击重”的方式偏离了生活原本的轨道,开始思考创作的“平和”、“缓慢”与“松弛”等问题。万方的创作“转向”经历了一段力图对“人生状态”予以“准确”表达的痴迷求索。一方面,她通过书写种种爱情问题,不断追问并回答“爱情对生命究竟意味着什么”;另一方面,她“纠缠”于命运和中年婚姻带给人们的一些说不清、道不明的“混沌感”,一心想通过对这种“混沌感”的“准确”表达,更真实地传达一个作家对人生、人性、命运等问题的观察与思考。小说鲜明的情感价值取向,体现了万方作为一个有社会责任感的作家的岗位意识。然而,“人生状态”的千差万别也让万方对一些问题的苦苦追求显得有些自我纠缠,但这也为万方走向另一个新的创作目标留下了空间。2008年,万方的创作又接受了一次自我挑战。她受惠于自己的人生变故和精神创痛,终于能够从“纠缠”于人生的某些状态中跳出,放下“计较”和偏执面对人生和写作。她不再苦苦追踪生活的真相,选择了与生活“和解”,并理性接纳多种“差异性”,对人生、社会、生命、人性有了更多包容性理解。此后,万方塑造了一个个如“粘合剂”般的女性形象,这些形象“粘合”不同人生的能力与万方的审美理想一起,体现着作家心中所持守的“对不同价值标准的客观理解”和一种“对人本身的宽容”。同时,万方也书写了一系列和谐与不和谐的两性关系,其间所强调的对两性“差异性”的理解、包容和接纳,也体现了万方“对价值多元化现实主体的承认、尊重和平等看待”。此外,万方更加看重人的自由心性状态,提倡“顺势”、“顺流”的达观态度。她不再刻意编织故事,也不再纠缠自己对人生的种种疑问,她所欣赏的“顺流而下”、“顺势而为”的人生智慧,透露的是她“对自己价值观念的执著与恪守”。
