华尔街发展历程及其对美国的贡献

【摘要】：华尔街作为全球主要金融中心之一,其历史比美国本身更古老,这里发生的一切都会对世界上的主要大国带来影响。华尔街一直坚持一个十分简单的目标,那就是如何快速多赚钱。正是这一目标大大地影响了美国的历史进程,同时也将继续影响这个国家的未来。本文认为,华尔街并不仅仅是贪婪的投机者们的乐土,也并非只反映出了人类的丑恶本性。事实上,华尔街对美国的发展起到了无可替代的巨大推进作用。其发展在依托于美国发展的同时也影响着美国的未来走势。换句话说,华尔街即“主街”。本文第一章主要叙述纽约如何发展成为美国的经济及金融中心。纽约既非美国首都,也不是纽约州首府,但其之所以能取得如此重要的地位,原因值得深挖。第二章将会针对华尔街的早期发展及腾飞阶段展开分析,包括华尔街如何从早期的“无序”状态迈入第一次牛市;安德鲁.杰克逊总统所采取的消除国债政策为何最终导致了华尔街投机泡沫。第三章先介绍铁路和电报如何彻底改变了华尔街的面貌,之后会分析华尔街为联邦政府在南北战争中赢得胜利立下了哪些汗马功劳以及为什么华尔街能够做到这一点。第四章分析了华尔街在大萧条时期所起的作用,着重解释为何华尔街不应被视为引发这场经济危机的罪魁祸首、何为导致这场灾难的真正原因;此外,本章还会分析华尔街如何成为“主街”。
