The roof garden has maked use of the city upper formation space effectively, and has provided the new place for people’s life and the new leisure place for the people, and opened the new way for the city forestation construction. Without a doubt, the roof garden has its important value and the significance. This article summarized several important though of the development of landscape design thought through the landscape design. And through studies these thought in the landscape design application, the roof garden design own characteristic, analyzes in the roof garden design the landscape design thought general expression means. At the same time, it reaseaches the development of the function of the roof garden from the development of the history and hunman society and summarizes the function of the roof garden from naturn, science and human culture. It also summarizes the way to realize the function of roof garden through some instances. Finally it analyzes the expression method of design thought and the realization method of the landscape function, and discussed these two mutual influences, and summarizes the general rule of the roof garden landscape design in the end.
