【摘要】：正19世纪所有的伟大河流中,探险家们最渴望去探索的并不是尼日尔河或刚果河,而是尼罗河,它被视为最大的战利品。尼罗河孕育了古老的埃及文明——不仅仅是孕育,更维持了它的发展。然而数千年来,却没有人知道尼罗河的源头究竟在何处。正如一位历史学家所说,19世纪中期,尼罗河的源头"成为继发现美洲后最大的地质奇迹"。
[Abstract]:In 19th century, of all the great rivers, explorers were most eager to explore not the Niger or Congo, but the Nile, which was regarded as the greatest prize of war. The Nile gave birth to ancient Egyptian civilisations-not just gestation. But for thousands of years, no one knew exactly where the Nile originated. As one historian put it, the source of the Nile "became the greatest geological miracle since the discovery of America" in the mid-19th century.
