【摘要】：在日本,因开战当时就对战争目的缺乏统一认识,加之战后美国实施的占领政策以及之后日本国内近现代史相关认识的"政治化"等一系列因素的影响,对于第二次世界大战期间日本所发动的对外战争有着多种称谓,并且战争称谓问题至今仍被热烈讨论。因此,现有的称谓基本上均带有一定的意识形态色彩,而官方则一直在使用"之前的大战"一词。各种称谓中,"太平洋战争""大东亚战争""亚洲·太平洋战争"均能表示1941年12月8日以后展开的战争,而从所涉地域来看,"大东亚战争""亚洲·太平洋战争"则明确了日本当时战场之所在,另外"太平洋战争"一词则更让人联想到发生于太平洋上的日美战争。至于国际通用且价值中立的"第二次世界大战",从日本的视角出发对其自身参与的战争进行叙述时,此一称谓无论从时间、地域还是"感觉"上来看都不甚适合。因此,现今"太平洋战争"一语虽被广泛使用,但展望未来,在选择能将1941年12月8日以后的中国战区亦纳入其中的恰当称谓时,是否可以考虑使用抹消其意识形态色彩的"大东亚战争"或"亚洲·太平洋战争"这两个用语。
