But it does not seem to be a long-term thing to divide the present and the ancient into two major schools of thought. Mr. Li Xueqin once pointed out: "although scholars of all dynasties before the late Qing Dynasty often talked about the present style and the ancient prose, they did not regard the present text as one major school and the ancient prose as the other major school. From the perspective of this assignment, the Confucian classics of the Han Dynasty actually started from the famous work of Liao Ping, a Sichuan scholar, A study of Modern and Ancient Studies.
