明代外交管理机构述略

【摘要】：明朝处于中国封建社会的晚期。此时的中外交往出现了空前繁荣的局面。明太祖朱元璋立国之后,以恢复华夏“正统”为己任,认为和平稳定的内外环境是明王朝得以存在和发展的重要保证,从而制定了睦邻友好的外交政策和“厚往薄来”的外贸政策。适应这一基本政策的需要,明朝仿汉唐旧制建立了自己的外交管理机构。本文通过以下四个部分来阐述明朝的对外管理机构的设立及其职能和意义, 进而探讨明代对外关系的某些特点。第一、概述明代以前的外交机构及对外政策,为明代外交管理机构的研究提供历史背景。第二、阐述明朝对外政策的基本格调,分析其睦邻友好的对外政策和“厚往薄来”的朝贡贸易。第三、明朝外交管理机构述略(上)。考述明朝礼部主客司的管理职能、会同馆的接待职能、四夷馆的翻译职能和鸿胪寺的礼宾职能。第四、明朝外交管理机构述略(下)。考述行人司和奉使官员的外交职能、市舶司及其外交职能、边境和京城地方政府的外交职能。本文结合明朝建立的历史背景和明朝对外政策的基本格调,通过对史书所记载明朝的主要外交机构及其外交职能略加考述,希望对深入研究明代外交问题有所助益。
