[Abstract]:This paper attempts to explore the struggle process of self-reflection and self-improvement of traditional Chinese medicine in Shanghai under the environment of the isolated island period, to show its efforts to fight against the Japanese and save the nation, and to objectively evaluate its shortcomings. The Kuomintang government moved westward, the suppression was weakened, and the traditional Chinese medicine organizations moved into the concession one after another, winning a period of peaceful development. At this time, the Chinese medicine sector, internal and Western medicine controversy, external support to save the country, their fighting spirit is fully inspired. This paper is divided into six chapters: The first chapter mainly expounds the basic situation of Shanghai traditional medicine in the isolated island period. The national government adjusted its policy on TCM in wartime, which was beneficial to the development of TCM. The traditional Chinese medicine practitioners in the surrounding areas migrated to the Shanghai concession, bringing together the famous Chinese medicine practitioners to make the revival of traditional Chinese medicine more promising. Chinese medicine practitioners are in a complex war environment, but they still have a clear sense of responsibility. The second chapter mainly narrates the deeds of Shanghai traditional Chinese medicine colleges in the war. Three major schools of traditional Chinese medicine in Shanghai, and some new or smaller schools, have managed very hard and trained a lot of Chinese medicine talents. This chapter introduces the administrative organization, curriculum, faculty and clinical practice of these schools. The third chapter mainly describes the publication of Chinese medicine, hospitals and groups in Shanghai during the isolated Island period. TCM periodicals are the propaganda window of TCM colleges, hospitals and groups. TCM hospitals are the time platform for TCM students. Many TCM organizations are teachers and students' associations born out of TCM schools. They depend on each other, promote each other, and make efforts to fight against the Japanese and revive traditional Chinese medicine. The fourth chapter mainly discusses the practice, living conditions and moral dilemma of Shanghai TCM doctors in the isolated island period. On the one hand, the war caused damage to the Chinese medicine industry, on the other hand, it also brought a lot of medical opportunities. Surrounding areas of traditional Chinese medicine have sought refuge in the concession, a time Chinese medicine gathered in Shanghai. There are also different schools within these Chinese medicine names. In extraordinary times, Shanghai TCM doctors not only have to bear the pressure of life, but also face moral dilemma, different people will make different life choices. The fifth chapter mainly introduces the situation of TCM related Chinese medicine industry. The Chinese medicine industry reflects the situation of Chinese medicine in this period. Chinese medicine suffered great damage in the early stage of the war, but with the expansion of the war, there appeared a short period of abnormal prosperity, but this situation is not lasting. The sixth chapter mainly discusses the relationship between traditional Chinese and western medicine in the isolated island period. This chapter compares the educational threshold of Chinese and western medicine, the personal income and social status of doctors, and analyzes the criteria of medical choice between the upper and middle class and the general public. Although there has always been controversy between them, there is also cooperation between traditional Chinese and western medicine. Enlightened Chinese medicine practitioners advocate "communication between traditional Chinese and western medicine." they have business contacts, and they are even more United in wartime in order to protect personal safety and personal reputation. The summary affirms the efforts made by colleges, journals, hospitals and organizations in the period of the isolated island period, but it also points out the gap between ideal and reality, and the road to rejuvenate Chinese medicine is still strong. At that time, the educational management of TCM and the establishment of TCM institutions were not ideal in many aspects. I hope these reflections can also enlighten the development of TCM today.
