郭显德胶东地区传教研究

【摘要】:近代山东爆发了震惊中外的义和团运动。这场运动要杀尽“洋毛子”、“二毛子”,因而成为很多在华外籍人士尤其是传教士的梦魇。在这白热化的民教冲突和仇恨对立之中,山东的部分地区流传着这样的民谚“凡天主教人,尽思杀人”。但是在山东的东部即胶东地区的部分地方却流传着这样的顺口溜“外国人不杀郭显德,中国人不杀赵斗南”。郭显德,英文原名Hunter Corbett,是美国长老会的牧师;赵斗南是郭显德的学生,后跟随郭显德传教。在这鲜明的对比的背后郭显德牧师究竟做了什么,使得胶东的部分地区在义和团运动风起云涌之时成为基督徒们的“避风港”? 本文以郭显德牧师的胶东地区传教为研究对象,结合当时的时代背景,郭显德的家世、生平、传教活动,对郭显德牧师的传教进行梳理和研究,以期解答胶东的部分地区成为义和团运动中的“避风港”之谜。 本文一共分为六部分,分别是绪论、郭显德来华的时代背景、郭显德牧师的家世生平与传教活动、郭显德的传教特色、胶东地区对郭显德及基督教群体的评价对比、结语等。 笔者认为正是因为郭显德在传教过程中本着“息事宁人,化解矛盾,与民众和谐相处”的方针,使得郭显德等传教士得以被民众接纳,;“因地制宜,主张教会自主、自立”的态度,有利于当地教会的长远发展;“注重信徒的素质,加强对信徒的管理”使得教徒群体有一个较好的声誉。凡此种种,当义和团运动在山东爆发的时候,郭显德等基督徒的处境在胶东地区得到了当地民众的同情。民众不仅没有杀他们,而且在义和团运动的中心地山东省给他们提供了一座“避风港”。
[Abstract]:The Boxer Tuan Movement, which shocked China and foreign countries, broke out in modern Shandong. The campaign has become a nightmare for many foreigners in China, especially missionaries. Amid this incandescent clash of religion and hatred, there is a popular saying in parts of Shandong, "all Catholics think of killing." But in the east of Shandong, part of Jiaodong, there is a saying that "foreigners do not kill Guo Xiande, Chinese people do not kill Zhao Dounan." Guo Xiande, formerly known as Hunter Corbett, is a pastor of the Presbyterian Church of the United States. Zhao is a student of Guo Xiande, who later preached with Guo Xiande. Behind this sharp contrast, what did Reverend Guo Xiande do to make parts of Jiaodong a safe haven for Christians at the time of the Boxer Movement? This article takes the pastor Guo Xiande's preaching in Jiaodong area as the research object, unifies the time background, Guo Xiande's family background, the life history, the missionary activity, carries on the combing and the research to the Guo Xiande pastor's preaching. In order to solve the Jiaodong part of the Yihetuan Movement into a "haven" mystery. This paper is divided into six parts: introduction, the background of Guo Xiande's coming to China, his family life and activities, his missionary characteristics, the comparison of his comments on Guo Xiande and the Christian community in Jiaodong, the conclusion, etc. The author believes that it is precisely because Guo Xiande was guided by the principle of "calm things, resolve contradictions, and live in harmony with the public" in the course of his missionary mission, that such missionaries as Guo Xiande were accepted by the populace; "according to local conditions, he advocates church autonomy." The attitude of self-reliance is conducive to the long-term development of the local church, and "paying attention to the quality of the believers and strengthening the management of the believers" enables the religious community to have a better reputation. In all this, when the Boxer Movement broke out in Shandong, the situation of Christians such as Guo Xiande received sympathy from the local people in Jiaodong. Instead of killing them, the people offered them a haven in Shandong, the center of the Boxer Movement.
