至大之苦与至大之善——读叶汉明编著《东华义庄与寰球慈善网络——档案文献资料的印证与启示》

【摘要】：东华义庄设于香港,除对本地贫寒民众给予施棺或免费掩埋等优惠之外,还负有将世界各地的华人先辈的棺柩、骨骸运回家乡的职责。东华义庄的历史是香港乃至中国近代慈善史不可或缺的一页,也从侧面反映了全球化时代华人艰难的创业历程。本文对叶汉明教授编著的东华义庄资料集给予高度评价,认为全书将文献选编和实地踏勘相结合,具有很高的学术价值。
[Abstract]:Located in Hong Kong, Donghua Yizhuang has the duty of transporting the coffins and bones of Chinese ancestors from all over the world to their hometowns, in addition to giving coffins or free burials to the poor people in Hong Kong. The history of Donghua Yizhuang is an indispensable page in the history of philanthropy in Hong Kong and even in modern China. It also reflects the difficult entrepreneurial process of Chinese in the era of globalization. This paper gives a high evaluation of the data collection of Donghua Yizhuang edited by Professor Ye Hanming, and thinks that it is of great academic value to combine the selected documents with the field survey.
