评彭慕兰、黄宗智论争中的棉及棉布消费问题——以江南为核心的另一种估计

【摘要】：关于十八世纪以降中国人纺织品消费的实际状况及其变迁,以徐新吾在《江南土布史》中关于鸦片战争后全国人均棉布及棉花消费量的估算影响最为深远。彭慕兰在《大分流》中则对十八世纪江南居民纺织品消费的状况作了估计,二者之间的差异便也成为彭慕兰与黄宗智之间学术论争的焦点之一。本文认为,徐新吾和彭慕兰的研究,其方法都极富启发意义,但仍存在一些问题。黄宗智单纯依赖徐批评彭的方式,无益于问题的解决。本文在学术界现有研究成果的基础上,以期对十八世纪以降江南居民棉及棉织物的消费水平作出更为精确可靠的估计。
[Abstract]:With regard to the actual situation and changes of reducing Chinese textile consumption in the 18th century, Xu Xinwu's estimation of the per capita cotton and cotton consumption after the Opium War was the most far-reaching. Peng Mulan estimated the situation of textile consumption in the south of the Yangtze River in the 18th century, and the difference between them became one of the focal points in the academic debate between Peng Muran and Huang Zongzhi. This paper holds that both Xu Xinwu and Peng Mulan's research methods are very enlightening, but there are still some problems. Huang Zongzhi relies solely on Xu's way of criticizing Peng, which is not conducive to the solution of the problem. Based on the existing research results in academic circles, this paper aims to make a more accurate and reliable estimate of the consumption level of cotton and cotton fabrics in the south of the Yangtze River in the 18th century.
