翻译专业技能研究

【摘要】：在全球化的大背景下,专家学者对翻译的研究已发生根本上的转变。自二十世纪80年代,已从译者和产品研究扩大到翻译过程及其对翻译产品影响的研究。从90年代后期,翻译研究又从翻译能力延伸到翻译专业技能研究。为应对全球化带来的机遇和挑战以及语言服务业的快速发展的新形势,翻译专业技能还涵盖了本地化、术语、编译、技术写作等领域的各种技能。为满足时代的需要,高校和翻译培训机构需培养能够应对社会需求的、具有翻译专业技能的人才。为此,翻译专业技能的研究成为本研究的主题。翻译活动是一个十分复杂的过程,需要译者具有较高的各方面能力。国内外大批专家学者将其称为翻译能力,并对其进行了深入探索。但他们研究的焦点多集中在组成翻译能力的成分构成及翻译策略在众多子能力的核心作用,鲜有人以翻译能力研究为基础,从认知科学的视角来研究翻译专业技能。现今随着翻译产业转向职业化、信息化、网络化、产业化,加之国际交流日益频繁,对于拥有翻译专业技能译者的需求不断增加,他们在现代社会中所扮演的角色越发重要。因此,嗟需研究翻译的专业技能,建立翻译人才的培养模式,以满足社会与市场需求。翻译的过程是译者复杂的思维过程。译者的认知能力对翻译质量有着深刻影响。只有从不同层面了解译者的认知资源和认知能力,才能够将其培养成满足社会需求的专家译者。同时,在培养专家译者的过程中,还需了解其在不同的翻译专业技能发展阶段认知变化的规律。综上所述,本文所研究的对象确定为翻译专业技能,一般译者产生同专家译者相同认知变化特征和模式的途径以及翻译专业技能的理论研究如何为译者培养提供理论支持。本研究将按如下五章展开：首先,引言一章介绍了本研究的研究背景、研究目的、支撑本研究的相关理论根据,还介绍了文章的研究方法论。第二章主要论述了翻译领域里中外专家与学者对翻译能力和翻译专业技能的研究。通过回顾两个研究领域的历史沿革,了解了主要代表人物所依据的理论基础、采用的研究方法、及所获得的前沿性成果,从而确定了本研究所应用的由美国著名翻译专业技能领域理论家乔治.施里夫提出的翻译专业技能理论(COTE)---翻译专业技能认知特征理论。第三章重点论述了翻译专业技能在现代社会中的应用。在介绍了语言服务行业、本地化、技术写作等领域(视如上领域为翻译专业技能的扩展)的发展状况后,分析了翻译专业技能在其中发挥的具体作用。第四章着手对翻译领域专业技能的发展进行个案研究。简要进行了理论层面上的讨论后,较详细地描述了实验的构思,过程和方法,记录了所诱出的受试在翻译过程中所产生的各种有效数据。本研究采用了实验研究中较为科学的三角测量法(Triangulation):即通过对有声思维(TAPs)所获取的质性数据、电脑操作记录软件(Translog)所获取的量性数据及译后追溯性访谈(Retrospective Interview)所提取的语料相互进行比对与分析,得出了可靠度与效度较高的结论,较为科学地验证了COTE理论在中国翻译环境下,尤其是对汉英翻译的解释力与涵盖性。藉此,归纳出翻译专业技能的结构、发展阶段及获取翻译专业技能可行性方法---有目的性之操练(Deliberate Practice)。最后一章的研究重点是,解决翻译过程实验研究中得出的数据与结论如何在实际翻译教学中加以应用的问题,并结合现有的教学方法,总结出适用于中国本土的一般译者翻译专业技能的培养路径。本研究所得出的结论基本实现了预定的研究目标,即厘清了翻译能力同翻译专业技能的异同、检验了个案研究实验工具,尤其是Translog的操作性及准确性,通过Triangulation部分验证了翻译专业技能理论的解释力。本研究得出的结果和理论验证对于今后翻译领域的研究人员进一步探究翻译专业技能有一定借鉴作用,有利于以实验研究作为切入点,从认知科学和翻译学相结合的跨学科视角,对翻译专业技能进行科学理性的探索。
