英汉学术书评评价意义对比研究

【摘要】： 学术书评作为学术语篇的一种,很多年来通常被当作参考文献,其在学术界的重要性并没有得到应有的重视。学术书评具有独特而复杂的人际意义:一方面评者要对所评书籍的结构、内容及其学术价值进行客观、扼要的概述以及扬优汰劣的评价;另一方面,他还要平衡其与书籍作者以及读者之间的人际关系,避免潜伏分歧的产生。 评价理论是系统功能语言学中语言的人际功能在语篇语义层面上的扩展和延伸。本文拟以评价理论为理论框架,作者从国外和国内的主流语言学杂志上选取了英汉语言学学术书评各10篇作为语料,将其置于评价系统的三个次系统(态度、介入和级差)中进行对比分析,借此来揭示英汉学术书评中评价意义各种语言实现手段的异同,并试图进行合理的原因探索。 本文采用了定量和定性分析相结合的研究方法,通过分析得出以下结论:(1)总体来看三个次系统在英汉学术书评中的出现频率不同。在英语书评中,其出现频率从高到低依次为介入、态度和级差;而汉语书评中其出现频率由高到低为态度、介入和级差。不同的态度资源在英汉学术书评中的出现频率也有所不同。(2)在介入次系统中,英汉学术书评都较多的采用杂语。在书评的引介、概述和评价三个阶段中,英汉书评外言和自言的出现频率都呈规律性的变化。(3)从级差角度看,英语书评中表达肯定情感的强势出现频率低于汉语书评,而表达否定情感的强势出现频率则高于汉语书评;英汉评者都使用一些手段使正面评价明显化,负面评价模糊化,以便于评者更好地协调与作者之间的冲突。(4)从书评的结构来看,英文书评的引介阶段通常作为独立一章出现,且英语评者肯定意义的表达通常只出现在评价阶段。而汉语书评中的肯定评价会在引介阶段和评价阶段重复出现。此外英文评者评价的侧重点通常是所评书籍的使用价值,而汉语评者则重视书籍的理论贡献。 总之,对中英学术书评评价意义的对比分析,一方面证明了评价理论是解读语篇中作者态度和立场的有力工具;另一方面分析得出的结论也有助于指导学生对英汉学术书评的阅读与写作,进一步丰富了评价理论的应用。
