Introduction介绍

The development and history of feminism in China and western countries shows that it is not the western feminism enlighten Chinese feminism. In the initial stage, western and Chinese feminism camp for their own and develop themselves. After 1950s, under the influence of overseas students, western feminism began affect China, it is obvious that, western feminism runs longer than Chinese feminism, but in view of different history and social reality, each of them has their own merits as well as defect.
After the western literature criticism entered into China,  Chinese feminism changed a lot.
Western feminism refers to the ideological trend and movement resulted from Occident and targeted at eliminating sexual discrimination and realizing the equality between men and women. After the 18th French Revolution, the book “declaration of the rights of citizens and women” wrote by Allen De goodger symbolizes the official formation of the ideological trend and movement of western feminism. In nearly three centuries, western feminism doesn’t only affect the western country but also the whole world. In the first period of the last century, Chinese intellectuals bring in the word ‘feminism’ into China, at the same time, they introduce the western feminist movement and feminist Thought into China, especially from 1980, Chinese feminism theory rapidly develop and make great achievements with the reform and opening up as well as the fourth Women's world congress held in Beijing. This essay analyzes the similarities anddifferences between western and Chinese feminism and the influence of western feminism to Chinese feminism.

6 Conclusion总结

Comparing with all the above, there is great difference between Chinese feminism and western feminism both theoretically and practically. In China, which has thousands years of development history and culture, Chinese women are always great force no matter in the revolutionary period or nowadays. Women is the half side of society, they create human’s material wealth and spiritual civilization together and are pushers for the social development and advancement…..However, women are in the unfair status in long time during the course of human social development. The prejudice of discriminating women is just like a series of intangible rope to tie up human soul. This kind of fusty concept should be broken long time ago and the unreasonable situation should be changed timely. At the Fourth World Conference on Women in 4th, 9, 1995, Jiang Zemin declared seriously that we should take the equality between men and women as a basic state policy. Therefore, if we want to overcome the prejudice of gender, the role Chinese feminism played cannot be neglected. Then, how can we promote the development of Chinese feminist theory? How to urge Chinese women to awaken and get into action rapidly? Maybe it is only the educational institution can take this responsibility, especially the gender education in colleges and universities will hold the post of the indispensable role.
Since China has thousands years of history and characteristic reality, it shows that Chinese traditional feminism is more placid and peaceful than western radical feminism. They are not in the opposite side of men, but discuss and seek way out with men together. This also decides the unique way of Chinese feminist criticism. In the course of absorbing western feminism, on the one hand, Chinese feminist criticaster keep synchronous with western feminists, on the other hand, they try their best to establish the discourse System of Chinese feminist criticism in order to make it localized. In a word, with the understanding and research of western feminism, Chinese feminist criticism expand the theory and method of Chinese feminism, which makes Chinese feminism possess the characteristic of China. Chinese feminism not only inherits Chinese classical literature, in the meanwhile, it pays attention to the social status and character as well as keeps researching into Chinese literature.
