【摘要】: 模糊限制语可用于表达作者对事物认知的程度,表明作者对话语及读者的态度,因此在英语学术论文写作中起着极其重要的作用。然而中国作者在模糊限制语的使用方面存在诸多问题,应引起特别关注并加以研究。本文通过对比模糊限制语在英语本族语者与中国英语学习者英语学术文献中的使用情况,探讨了中国英语学习者模糊限制的使用特点以及导致其使用不当的因素。在本研究中,采纳了Hyland对学术语料库中模糊限制语的定义及Hyland与Varttala对模糊限制语的分类,建立了英语本族语者和中国英语学习者两个学术英语语料库(NEAC与CLAEC),运用WordSmith Tools 3.0和SPSS 13.0,对两库中的模糊限制语的使用频率及分布进行了统计分析。研究统计发现,英语本族语者与中国英语学习者在模糊限制语的使用倾向上存在相似性,都倾向于使用动词、副词类,而较少使用名词类的模糊限制语。然而,中国英语学习者在对模糊限制语的使用方面与英语本族语者仍然存在较大差异。例如,中国英语学习者在对动词、副词、情态动词及名词类的模糊限制语的使用数量和种类上都少于英语本族语者,除此而外,中国作者倾向于使用语气较强的动词和情态动词,使得中国作者的学术论文语气显得过于肯定和直接,违背了学术英语写作的习惯,从而有可能影响中国作者的学术论文在国际上的推广。导致上述不得体使用模糊限制语的因素可能是中国作者对英语的掌握程度不够、思维和文化与写作习惯的差异、模糊限制语本身的复杂性、缺乏其使用意识及指导、以及母语迁移等。最后,作者对模糊限制语的教与学提出了一些建议,以期提高中国英语学习者使用模糊限制语的意识及其使用的准确性和得体性。
[Abstract]:Hedges can be used to express the author of cognition, attitude of discourse shows that the author and readers, so in English academic writing plays a very important role. However, there are many problems in the use of hedges Chinese author, should arouse special attention and study. Through the comparison of fuzzy constraints the use of language in native English speakers and China English learners in the academic literature, discusses the characteristics of English learners Chinese hedges and lead to the improper use of factors. In this study, adopted the Hyland definition of Hedges in academic corpus and Hyland and Varttala classification of hedges established, native English speakers and English learners Chinese two academic English Corpus (NEAC and CLAEC), using WordSmith Tools 3 and SPSS 13, to two in the library The use of hedges of frequency and distribution were analyzed. The research statistics found that native English speakers and China English learners have the similarity in the use of hedges inclination, tend to use verbs, lexical category and vice, and less use of the noun class fuzzy hedges. However, English learners in China the use of hedges and native English speakers there are still large differences. For example, China English learners on verbs, adverbs, modal verbs and nouns to limit the number of fuzzy language use and type of class are fewer than native English speakers. In addition, the author Chinese tend to use strong modal verbs and modal the author of the verb, Chinese academic tone is certainly and direct, contrary to the academic English writing habits, which may affect the China author academic articles in International The result in the inappropriate use of promotion. The factors of hedges may be China the mastery of English is not enough, the difference of thinking and culture and writing habits, vague language itself is lack of complexity, the use of awareness and guidance, and transfer. Finally, the author of Hedges in teaching and learn to put forward some suggestions to improve Chinese English learners awareness of using hedges and accuracy and Appropriateness.
