基于语料库的中美博士论文英语摘要名词化研究

【摘要】:摘要是名化度很高的一种写作文体。名词化具有保持客观描述语气以及创建文本凝聚力等功能,因此人们倾向于将名词化与学术写作相联系。对于中国作者,尤其是那些想要提交发表文章的作者而言,正是这种实用功能使得掌握名词化在摘要写作当中的应用显得尤为重要。关于名词化的研究不少,,但是实证方面的研究稍许欠缺。基于前人研究的基础之上,本文提出一个问题。假设在某种程度上名词化能影响摘要写作的质量,那么与本族语者相比较,中国高级英语学习者在名词化方面的使用情况如何?为了证实该问题,本文考察和分析了中美博士论文英文摘要名词化的使用情况。 本研究随机抽取四个学科的博士论文英文摘要400篇,建成两个小型语料库,同时辅以计算机语料库检索工具AntConc对名词化现象进行数据分类统计,最后运用SPSS对数据做出对比分析。研究发现:1)就词汇层面而言,中国学习者与本族语者之间整体上存在显著差异,但在子类型零派生的运用上并无显著差异。2)就句法层面而言,中国学习者与本族语者之间存在显著差异。总的来说,中国学习者的名词化意识较为薄弱,不能很好地将名词化应用到自己的摘要写作中去,与本族语者相比,在使用频率和类型上都存在一定差距。基于以上研究结果,本文建议中国学习者要加强对名词化的重视以期提高名词化意识,强化名词化使用能力,从而提高摘要写作质量并最终促进学术交流。
[Abstract]:Abstract: it is a writing style with a high degree of nominalization. Nominalization has the functions of maintaining objective descriptive mood and creating text cohesion, so people tend to associate nominalization with academic writing. For Chinese authors, especially those who want to submit articles for publication, it is this practical function that makes it particularly important to master the application of nominalization in abstract writing. There are a lot of researches on nominalization, but the empirical research is lacking. Based on previous studies, this paper presents a problem. Assuming that nominalization to some extent affects the quality of abstract writing, what is the use of nominalization by advanced English learners in China compared with native speakers? In order to prove this problem, this paper examines and analyzes the use of nominalization of English abstracts in Chinese and American doctoral thesis. In this study, 400 English abstracts were randomly selected from four subjects, and two small corpora were constructed. At the same time, a computer corpus retrieval tool, AntConc, was used to classify the nominalization phenomenon. Finally, using SPSS to make a comparative analysis of the data. It is found that there is a significant difference between Chinese learners and native speakers in terms of vocabulary, but there is no significant difference in the use of zero derivation of subtypes. 2) at the syntactic level, there is no significant difference between Chinese learners and native speakers. There are significant differences between Chinese learners and native speakers. Generally speaking, the nominalization consciousness of Chinese learners is relatively weak and can not be well applied to their abstract writing. Compared with native speakers, there is a certain gap in the frequency and type of use. Based on the above findings, this paper suggests that Chinese learners should pay more attention to nominalization with a view to enhancing nominalization awareness, strengthening nominalization ability, thus improving the quality of abstract writing and ultimately promoting academic exchanges.
