基于语料库的对硕博学位论文中致谢部分的体裁分析

【摘要】: 自上世纪80年代以来,基于体裁的研究已经对学术和专业领域的众多体裁进行了分析。然而,作为一种学术性质体裁,硕博学位论文中的致谢很少受到关注。对于许多要求用英文写作学位论文的中国学生而言,他们对致谢这种体裁的结构、内容和表达了解不甚清楚,很多时候是通过模仿他人的致谢完成的。 为了帮助更好的理解这种体裁,指导中国学生用英文写作该体裁,并了解该体裁的跨文化差异,本研究结合ESP领域的体裁分析方法和语料库语言学技巧,对两个自建的、分别源于中国学生和英语母语学生的硕博学位论文英文致谢语料库进行了分析和对比。受限于英文致谢的材料收集,这两个小型语料库分别由30篇来自人文社科的致谢组成,并主要集中于语言学领域。研究首先揭示了英语母语学生致谢的体裁结构,并以此为依据分别对两个语料库进行了Move/step标记,以及一些语言特征的标记。根据标记结果,作者充分运用各种计算机软件和语料库技巧(如Excel,Wordsmith等)对两个语料库的语步结构和语言特征(包括文体风格,句式结构,语言表达等)进行了分析和比较。 结果表明,致谢由四个语步组成,其中只有“感谢”语步是必要的语步。研究同时总结了致谢体裁的显著语言特征和典型语言表达。中国学生的英文致谢基本上遵守了英语母语写作者致谢中呈现出的规范,但在致谢的长度,语步出现频率、偏好,语篇复杂度,以及实现语步的具体语言策略等方面存在差异。总体而言,中国学生的致谢在语步结构上不及母语作者复杂;在篇章组织结构和整体语言使用上也更为局限。但在某些具体的表达方式上,如感谢的表达方式上呈现出更大的多样性。作者认为这样的差异主要归因于社会文化因素、语言水平和读者的预期。 本研究结果对于英文致谢的写作教学和指导中国学生的英文致谢写作有着重要的意义。同时,也显示了计算机语料库技术在体裁对比分析中的有效性。
[Abstract]:Since the 1980 s, genre-based studies have analyzed many genres in academic and professional fields. However, as an academic genre, the acknowledgements in the thesis are seldom paid attention to. For many Chinese students who ask to write their dissertations in English, they do not have a clear understanding of the structure, content and expression of the genre of gratitude, often by imitating the thanks of others. In order to help Chinese students to understand the genre better, to guide Chinese students to write the genre in English and to understand the cross-cultural differences of the genre, the present study combines the genre analysis methods in the field of ESP and corpus linguistic skills. The corpus of English acknowledgements from Chinese students and native English speakers are analyzed and compared. Limited to the collection of English thanks, the two small corpora are composed of 30 acknowledgements from the humanities and social sciences, and are mainly concentrated in the field of linguistics. The study first reveals the genre structure of English native language students' acknowledgements and, based on this, carries out Move-step markers and some linguistic features of the two corpora. Based on the tagging results, the author makes full use of various computer software and corpus techniques (such as Excel Wordsmith, etc.) to analyze and compare the step structure and language features of the two corpora (including stylistic style, sentence structure, language expression, etc.). The results show that gratitude consists of four steps, of which the "thank you" step is a necessary step. At the same time, the study summarizes the distinctive linguistic features and typical linguistic expressions of the genre of thanks. Chinese students' English thanks basically comply with the norms presented by native English writers, but there are differences in terms of the length of thanks, the frequency of steps, preferences, textual complexity, and the specific language strategies to implement the steps. In general, Chinese students' thanks is not as complex as the native language author's in the structure of the language step, and it is also more limited in the structure of the text organization and the use of the language as a whole. But in some specific expressions, such as the expression of gratitude shows a greater diversity. The author believes that these differences are mainly attributed to sociocultural factors, language proficiency and readers' expectations. The results of this study are of great significance to the teaching of the writing of English thanks and the guidance of Chinese students' writing of English thanks. At the same time, it also shows the validity of computer corpus technology in genre analysis.
