[Abstract]:In 1925, Li Jinfa, who had returned to Paris, France, was invited to the Shanghai Academy of Fine Arts (hereinafter referred to as Shanghai American College) as a professor of sculpture. Unexpectedly, the enrollment was suspended because no students had signed up. This, at least, suggests that sculpture in the sense of Western art was still a strange thing to the people of China around 1925. By 1928, the National West Lake Academy of Art (renamed the National Hangzhou Academy of Art in 1930, hereinafter referred to as "Hangzhou Art College") was established in Luoyuan, Gushan, Hangzhou.
