“翻译” (本文指文学翻译 )的定义在翻译这门学科里是个看似最简单的问题 ,然而因其在国内和国外林林总总、各具特色 ,显露出复杂、深刻而又色彩斑斓的一面 ,折射出当前该学科领域热门话题———翻译理论的种种缩写。当翻译活动经历了几千年悠久的历史后 ,却仍无一条翻译定义为世人公认 ,而当今世界形形色色的翻译定义又俯拾即是 ,“这是一个颇耐玩味的事实”。在此 ,文章对这一独特的现象作了分析

This paper made an analysis of a random collection of miscomprehensions from translation literature, showing that in the course of interlingual translating, comprehension is of paramount importance and very hard. Based on the analysis, some implications have been drawn for translators, translation theorists and teachers. It has also raised some questions concerning the relationship between translation theory and practice in the hope that due attention should be paid to it.

本文分析了部分翻译著述中的理解错位实例 ,说明了翻译过程中理解的重要和艰难 ,并根据对这些实例的分析得出几点对于翻译工作者、翻译理论以及外语教学工作的启示 ,同时也提出了几个有关翻译理论与实践方面的问题 ,望能引起有关人员的重视。
