【摘要】：顺应论是比利时国际语用学会秘书长维索尔伦提出的一种语用学观点。他认为,语用学讲语言的使用,语言的使用是一系列选择的过程,而选择则是从语境、语言结构等方面,动态地根据不同的心理意识程度做出的某种顺应。在语言的使用过程中之所以能够做出种种顺应,是因为语言有三种特性：变异性、商讨性和顺应性。语言的使用过程和翻译过程有许多相似之处,故此译者在翻译的过程中,选择、确定译文时必须考虑多种因素。译者所选择的译文既要顺应原文和译文的语境及非语境因素,又要顺应译语读者的期待,所以在翻译过程中要做不同程度的选择与顺应。 《芙蓉镇》是中国当代著名作家古华的名作,曾获第一届茅盾文学奖。作者运用大胆的绘真写实,新奇的艺术结构和独特的叙述语言,描写了湘西农村独具特色的典型形象,丰富地展现了当代农村生活的画卷。而若依照顺应理论,在翻译这部独具时代和地方特色的作品时,译者应选择顺应原文和译文的认知环境,并顺应译语读者的期待,采取相应的翻译策略,努力将读者带到原作的语言氛围当中。 本论文将从维索尔伦的顺应论出发,运用实证法,对翻译家戴乃迭的《芙蓉镇》英译本进行分析,旨在得出顺应论具有可操作性并对翻译实践具有指导作用。论文从交际语境和顺应的结构对象的角度,探讨译者是如何作出选择顺应及所采取的翻译策略。译者在翻译过程中对语境及非语境关系各层面做出了比较恰当的顺应选择,实现了目的语与译入语在语言、文化、语境及非语境等方面的顺应转换。但同时在该理论的指导下,论文也分析了一些未能很好的顺应交际语境和语言结构的翻译例子。最后,文章在对译本论证分析中,得出顺应论对翻译的重要性与指导作用。诚然无论译者如何努力,欲达到完全顺应译文与原文这一目的似乎是可望而不可及的。
