从翻译伦理视角看《三体》英译本中的译者责任

【摘要】：中国科幻作品《三体》由美籍华裔译者刘宇昆翻译成英文后,于2015年获得世界科幻文学界至高奖项“雨果奖”,实现了中国甚至亚洲科幻文学零的突破,引发了广泛关注。无独有偶,由刘宇昆翻译的另一部中国科幻作品《北京折叠》也于2016年摘得“雨果奖”,其影响力可见一斑。然而,与葛浩文等中国文学外传的功臣相比,有关译者刘宇昆的相应研究才刚刚起步,这无疑是一种缺失和不足。自翻译的文化转向之后,翻译伦理成为了另一个重要的研究方向。切斯特曼首次提出了五大翻译伦理,在此基础上,孙致礼更为细致具体地划分了译者的五大职责,即:再现原作;完成委托人的要求;符合目的语社会文化的规范;满足目的语读者的需求;恪守职业道德。借助该理论框架,本文旨在分析以下几个问题:1.译者刘宇昆是否具有明确的责任意识?具体是怎样的?2.译者的责任意识在翻译文本中是如何体现的,也就是译者责任是如何影响翻译的。通过素材收集和文本细读,本文得出结论:在对《三体》进行英文翻译的过程中,译者刘宇昆体现了高度的责任意识。本着对原作和作者负责的翻译思想,他尽量保留原有的语言风格和人物特色;并且对有问题的写作进行了诸多修改。为了符合客户(此处具体指出版社编辑)的要求,刘宇昆对原文中可能带有女性歧视的内容进行了改写。为了满足英文读者的阅读期待,尽量采用通俗惯用语,对语义模糊处进行澄清,对中国特有的文化现象做了大量注解。此外,译者具有文化沟通者的意识,对其他可能造成文化冲突的内容进行了改写。还查阅了大量科技类文献等以保证术语准确,尽可能地对原文本进行优化,以及通过不断修改减少翻译失误,这都是体现他译者责任的一个个侧面。

With the help of the theoretical framework, this paper aims to analyze the following problems: 1. whether the translator Liu Yukun has a clear sense of responsibility? How? The 2. translators in the translation of the sense of responsibility is reflected in how it is the translator's responsibility. How to influence the translation. Through material collection and textual analysis, this paper draws a conclusion: in the process of translation of < > English three, the translator Liu Yukun reflects the high sense of responsibility. In charge of the original and the author's translation thoughts, he try to maintain the original style of language and characters; and on the problem writing has made many changes. In order to meet the customer (here refers to the editor) requirements, Liu Yukun modified to write with the text of the discrimination against women in order to meet the English content. The readers' expectation, as far as possible the use of popular idioms in semantic fuzziness was clarified, the cultural phenomenon China peculiar to do a lot of notes. In addition, the translator has a cultural communication consciousness, on the other may cause cultural conflicts and the content of the rewriting. Access to a large number of scientific literature to ensure accurate terms as far as possible, the original text is optimized, and reduce the translation errors through the change, this is the embodiment of translator's responsibility of one side of him.
