从哲学阐释学视角看《诗经》两译本英译

【摘要】:《诗经》是中国第一部诗歌总集,也是中国文化经典之一,其采用的表现手法代表了中国古典诗歌的艺术传统,对中国文学作品的语言形式和体裁结构产生了重要影响。《诗经》翻译最早开始于十八世纪的欧洲,其英语翻译历史迄今已逾百年。目前,关于《诗经》的翻译研究已有了一定的基础,但从阐释学,尤其是哲学阐释学视角来对其翻译进行分析的研究尚不多见。阐释学是专门研究理解和解释的学科,它源于对圣经的理解和解释,经众多学者,如施莱尔马赫、狄尔泰和海德格尔等,研究之后,最终由伽达默尔发展为系统的哲学阐释学。不同于传统阐释学对文本本意的客观服从,哲学阐释学认为,由于受历史、文化、社会等多种因素影响,阐释者不可能完全复制原文本的意义,而且在阐释时有一定的自主性。翻译与阐释学在本质上存在联系,因为无论是哪种类型的翻译,它们都会对原文进行理解与解释。哲学阐释学被引入翻译领域之后,突破了传统译论对“标准”翻译的追求,打破了“作者至上”的观念,为翻译研究提供了新视角。本文拟从哲学阐释学这一理论视角出发,对《诗经》不同英译本进行分析和研究。本文所选取的研究对象是理雅各1871年的非韵体译本和许渊冲1993年的韵体译本。理雅各是西方第一位将《诗经》完整译成英文的学者,他的翻译被视为《诗经》翻译史上的一座里程碑,而许渊冲则是中国第一位完整英译《诗经》的学者。因此,这两个译本具有很大的研究意义。本研究的目的不在于比较这两个《诗经》译本的翻译策略和翻译风格,也不在于评价这两个译本的优劣,而在于从哲学阐释学三大原则,即“理解的历史性”、“视域融合”及“效果历史”出发,深入分析理雅各和许渊冲两英译本之间的差异,揭示不同时期不同文化背景下出现不同《诗经》英译的深层原因,并探讨哲学阐释学对诗经翻译及翻译研究的意义。
[Abstract]:The Book of songs is the first collection of Chinese poetry and one of the classics of Chinese culture, which represents the artistic tradition of Chinese classical poetry. The translation of the Book of songs first began in Europe in the 18th century, and its English translation history has been more than 100 years. The translation study of the Book of songs has a certain foundation, but there are few studies on its translation from the perspective of hermeneutics, especially philosophical hermeneutics. Hermeneutics is a discipline specialized in understanding and interpretation. It originates from the understanding and interpretation of the Bible, which has been studied by many scholars, such as Schlermach, Dilthey and Heidegger. Finally, from Gadamer to systematic philosophical hermeneutics. Different from traditional hermeneutics' objective adherence to text, philosophical hermeneutics believes that it is influenced by history, culture, society and other factors. Hermeneutics is not capable of completely replicating the meaning of the original text and has some autonomy in interpretation. Translation and hermeneutics are intrinsically related, because no matter what type of translation, After philosophical hermeneutics was introduced into the field of translation, it broke through the traditional translation theory's pursuit of "standard" translation and broke the concept of "authorship first". It provides a new perspective for translation studies. This thesis intends to proceed from the theoretical perspective of philosophical hermeneutics. This paper analyzes and studies the different English versions of the Book of songs. The research objects of this thesis are the non-rhyme versions of Reich James in 1871 and the rhyme versions of Xu Yuanchong in 1993. He is the first western scholar to complete the translation of the Book of songs into English. His translation is regarded as a milestone in the history of translation of the Book of songs, and Xu Yuanchong is the first complete translation of the Book of songs in China. The purpose of this study is not to compare the translation strategies and translation styles of the two versions of the Book of songs, nor to evaluate the merits and demerits of the two versions, but to study the three principles of philosophical hermeneutics. Starting from "Historical understanding", "Horizon Fusion" and "History of effects", this paper makes a thorough analysis of the differences between the English versions of James and Xu Yuanchong, and reveals the deep reasons for the different translation of the Book of songs in different cultural backgrounds in different periods. It also discusses the significance of philosophical hermeneutics in the translation and translation studies of the Book of songs.
