纪实文学《美籍华人奋斗史》翻译实践报告（节选）

【摘要】：本文是根据纪实小说《美籍华人奋斗史》的汉译完成的翻译实践。本报告是根据尤金·奈达的功能对等理论,分析了翻译过程中运用的方法、策略及出现的问题。该文本主要讲述了美籍华人在二十世纪早期的成长故事:1882-1943年美国的排华时期,由于排华政策和移民歧视,在美国出生的中国人经历了这段中美历史的关键时期。在此大背景下,移民者通过与主流社会斗争从而最终获得认可。因此,《美籍华人奋斗史》一书具备史实性,故事情节引人入胜,教育意义发人深省。译者希望通过对文中涉及历史性事件的翻译,为纪实类文学的翻译提供一些帮助和参考。该文本为纪实文学,具有纪实性和文学性。由于英汉两种语言的文化差异,因此,奈达功能对等理论可以作为其转换的桥梁。本报告中,译者对翻译实践中的具体案例进行分析,结合功能对等理论和多种翻译策略与方法,在忠实于原作的基础上完成翻译,并总结了纪实类文学的翻译策略。在语言特点方面,如何在译文中还原其语言情感成为难点。词语的选择,句子的拆分与重组,语句的衔接,统一的文体风格这四个方面成为该翻译实践中译者关注的重点。因此,译者分别对照奈达的功能对等理论的四个方面对翻译实践进行了具体分析。本文由三部分组成:导论、正文和结论。第一部分是导论,主要介绍了本书及作者,简述了译者的翻译动机及翻译目的。第二部分是正文,主要分为三章。第一章介绍了此次翻译实践预期达成的目标,《美籍华人奋斗史》作者的个人简介以及本书相关信息介绍。第二章为翻译实践的过程。主要分为初稿及校对。完成初稿后,译者通过校对,对译文进行了修改。第三章是本报告的核心部分,将翻译策略与书中实例难句相结合进行对比分析解读。从四个方面分析解决翻译问题,即词汇对等、语句对等、篇章对等、文体对等。对于翻译中遇到的难点,译者应用到不同的翻译方法及策略。最后一部分是结论。译者分析翻译过程中遇到的问题,并总结了译后的经验和教训。
[Abstract]:This paper is based on the translation practice of the Chinese translation of the documentary novel the struggle History of Chinese Americans. Based on Eugene Nida's functional equivalence theory, this paper analyzes the methods, strategies and problems in translation. The text mainly tells the story of the growing up of Chinese Americans in the early 20th century: the era of American exclusion from 1882 to 1943. Due to the anti-Chinese policy and immigration discrimination, the Chinese born in the United States experienced this crucial period in the history of China and the United States. In this context, immigrants through the struggle with the mainstream society to eventually gain recognition. Therefore, the book "A History of Chinese struggle" has historical facts, interesting storylines and educational significance. The translator hopes to provide some help and reference for the translation of documentary literature through the translation of historical events. This text is documentary literature, with documentary and literariness. Due to the cultural differences between English and Chinese, Nida's functional equivalence theory can be used as a bridge for its transformation. In this report, the translator makes an analysis of specific cases in translation practice, combines functional equivalence theory and various translation strategies and methods, and completes translation on the basis of fidelity to the original work, and summarizes the translation strategies of documentary literature. In terms of language characteristics, how to restore their language feelings in the translation becomes a difficult point. The choice of words, the separation and recombination of sentences, the cohesion of sentences and the unified stylistic style have become the focus of the translator's attention in translation practice. Therefore, the translator makes a detailed analysis of translation practice against four aspects of Nida's functional equivalence theory. This paper consists of three parts: introduction, text and conclusion. The first part is an introduction, mainly introduces this book and the author, briefly describes the translator's translation motive and the translation purpose. The second part is the text, mainly divided into three chapters. The first chapter introduces the expected target of the translation practice, the personal introduction of the author of the Chinese American struggling History and the relevant information of the book. Chapter two is the process of translation practice. Mainly divided into the first draft and proofreading. After the first draft was finished, the translator revised the translation through proofreading. Chapter three is the core part of this report, which combines translation strategies with examples of difficult sentences in the book for comparative analysis. This paper analyzes and solves translation problems from four aspects: lexical equivalence, sentence equivalence, textual equivalence and stylistic equivalence. The translator applies different translation methods and strategies to the difficulties encountered in translation. The last part is the conclusion. The translator analyzes the problems encountered in the process of translation and summarizes the experience and lessons after translation.
