概念隐喻视角下杨宪益译本《呐喊》与《彷徨》中隐喻翻译策略研究

鲁迅是中国著名的文学家,思想家和革命家。其小说寓意深刻,善于反映中国的现状以及国民性,运用多种修辞手段刻画人物、烘托时代背景。然而,很多中外读者读不懂鲁迅的小说,尤其是涉及到小说中的隐喻表达。杨宪益夫妇作为国内外知名翻译家,为传播中国文化,翻译了一系列作品,受到读者的欢迎,其中包括鲁迅的三部小说《呐喊》、《彷徨》以及《故事新编》。本文以杨宪益译本《呐喊》和《彷徨》为文本,以乔治·莱考夫和马克·约翰逊的概念隐喻理论为理论框架,通过整合、分析其中具有代表性的人名和称谓隐喻、颜色隐喻以及人体隐喻的翻译,探讨两本小说中三类隐喻的隐喻翻译策略。本文选取、分析《呐喊》和《彷徨》中典型人名和称谓隐喻例子,总结出六种姓名和称谓隐喻的构建方式,分别是谐音命名法、一词多义命名法、蕴含期望命名法、富含生理特征命名法、职业命名法以及阴阳五行命名法。本文作者发现杨宪益夫妇主要采用直译和意译的翻译策略。由于姓名和称谓隐喻自身的特点,本文作者总结出三种具体翻译方法:音译,释译和加注,准确地表达了鲁迅想要向读者传达的姓名和称谓隐喻意义,揭示了小说里人物的性格和命运以及小说主题。其次,本文收集《呐喊》和《彷徨》中的颜色隐喻,总结出九种基本颜色,分别是黑色、白色、红色、灰色、蓝色、黄色、紫色、绿色以及粉色,然后以基本颜色为单位,细分了不同颜色的隐喻意义。通过隐喻识别和总结,本文作者发现杨宪益夫妇依据文化多样性以及具体文学语境,采取保持同种或相似颜色,改变颜色以及去掉颜色直接表达颜色的隐含意义,生动形象地刻画了人物性格、准确地描述了当时社会环境,揭示了人物的命运和小说的主题。最后,本文根据跨域映射,把人体隐喻构建的方式分为三类:人体到非人体,非人体到人体,以及人体到人体。作者发现杨宪益夫妇根据英汉文化的差异以及词汇的发展,主要采用保留喻体、重新建构喻体以及省略喻体处理人体隐喻翻译。本文旨在帮助中外读者加深对鲁迅小说的理解,展示中文的魅力,同时也希望为以后的青年译者提供更多实用的翻译技巧,为推动中国文化的传播,促进中外文化交流做贡献。
