论林语堂《胡适之》汉译本中的改写

作为翻译文化转向的代表人物之一,安德烈·勒菲弗尔将翻译看作改写的一种形式,主张突破文本的局限,把翻译放到意识形态、经济和文化中进行讨论,他尤其重视目标语文化对翻译的影响,并归纳提出了翻译研究的四个方面:意识形态、诗学、论域和语言。本研究主要以勒菲弗尔的改写观点为框架,分别从以上四个方面对《胡适之》汉译本进行个案研究,以期通过大量文献研究,对比分析,推测其改写动机,探讨译本中具体的改写现象。《胡适之》汉译本是一篇不足千字的人物传记,改译自温源宁发表于《中国评论周刊》上的英文原作Dr.HuShih—APhilosophe,译者林语堂,该译本极大程度上违背了译者本人提出的“忠实”的翻译标准。这一现象仅借语言学派理论难以得到合理解释,更需要探讨文本外因素对译本操控的可能性,因此勒氏的改写观点具有借鉴意义。本研究发现,在意识形态层面上,译作的压力主要来自赞助人和专业人士,《胡适之》的改写则主要受《人间世》杂志及兼出版者和译者两种身份的林语堂的操控。二十世纪前后的中国社会处于转型的巨变中,文化、思想阵营林立,不同学者对中西文化表现出不同的倾向。在这种环境下,一方面,原作者温源宁深受西方文化和英国文...
