《红楼梦》两英译本状语结构对比研究

【摘要】：《红楼梦》的英译比较研究一直以来都是英汉语对比与翻译研究的一个热门课题。本文通过详尽分析《红楼梦》的杨氏译本和霍氏译本中各状语类成分的来源及分布特点,结合Toury提出的翻译规范理论与话题一述题的汉语长句切分方法,探讨两种译本间所体现出的英汉语言表达差异,以此来更好地理解两种译本的翻译策略,并进一步加深对英汉语间异同的理解。通过理论层面的分析和对实际例证的归纳,我们可以相信两译本在处理及使用状语类结构的过程中确实体现出一定的翻译范式,这种范式在词层面、句法层面以及篇章层面均有所表现。两位译者在翻译过程中都不同程度地遵循着这样的范式,因而导致了译文状语结构的种种共同点；另一方面,同时也存在大量违背翻译规范的情形,这也因此导致了两译本间各种表述上的差异。我们认为上述差异主要来源于初始规范及预备规范的影响,以及英汉语言思维方式上的差异：即杨译似受汉语思维及其翻译目的的影响,反映在译文表述更重过程、动态感更强,更侧重与原文的形式对应；而霍译似更受英语思维方式影响,译文更重结果,整体静态感强,对于状语的应用也更为灵活。在图里的翻译描述理论视角下,杨译更注重译本的充分性,而霍译更注重译本的可接受性。
